So, I want to replace the full-length guide rod setup on my 5" Kimber
(over there <–––––––––––– ) with a GI-style setup. Which one should
I go with, from whom, and what weight spring? I don't shoot +P loads, my frame's
aluminum, and there's about 4 or 5 different weights and such. Help!

ETA:  Would I be able to use the SAME recoil spring?

I'd start out by keeping your spring and changing to a GI setup. If it runs reliably, keep it. If not, get a new spring.

As for brands, any of the good stuff should suffice, I'd think.

Where'd be the best spots to buy such things from places like Wilson, Brown, etc?  Brownells, Midway, a different site sponsor......?

I've swapped mine a couple of times and it seems like Ed Brown was the only one I could ever find.  Try Brownells.

I'd check midway or natchez shooters supply.

My question is why? You get more barrel float with the USGI set up then the full length guide rod

Brownells has everything 1911. I've tried both one and two piece guide rods, and it's nice to go GI for simple field strip. If JMB thought his gun needed a full length guide rod, maybe he would have added one?

How many rounds do you  have on your spring in there now?
New springs are easy to get.

Then you can compare the new one to the old one, if it's more than 5 coils longer than the old one, replace it.

I went with a USGI plug & guide rod (& trigger) in a parts trade with someone here on the EE, and a Wolf spring from Brownells.  (and a new set of grips cheap from Ebay)  My 5" Kimber has run fine with these changes.  I should take a pic.

Yours is the first post I've heard mention such a thing.  How would this affect accuracy and reliability?  I thought it wouldn't quite matter so much, if the bushing was already "good"?
