Has anyone ever used this antibiotic before? I have to give it to my dog 3x a day because she has bacteria in her pee and a UTI. $167 for two weeks.

i took it once a LONG time ago. I think after a surgery, but i am not positive. It was horrible. It was a powder that had to be mixed with about an ounce of water and drank like a shot.

shit sucks man

That's a knock out punch.  I had a bad strep infection one time and I felt better within 45 minutes of taking the first one.

Should be able to get the generic for somewhat less. It's Augmentin which is simply Amoxil and another ingredient. Tell the vet you flat can't afford it and see if they can write something else. It's not the only drug to treat a UTI.

Edit for HEAD IN ASS DISEASE!

I'm pretty pissed. She got a UTI a few months earlier, and the bacteria gathered around her blatter. My previous vet did not tell me about this.

So she needs an extra strong antibiotic to clean up the bacteria in her bladder.

The word you are looking for is Augmentin.

It is amoxicillin with potassium clavulanate which strengthens the drug from beta lactamase from the bacteria.  A very fine drug.

Eta: brainfart

Good to know. Thanks for the corrections.

Either way, I hope she does not have adverse reactions to it

Its amoxicillin with clavulanic acid.  Some bacteria secret enzymes that can break down  penicillin type drugs.  Clavulanic acid blocks these enzymes allowing the amoxicillin to work.

Doc gave it to me for a Brown Recluse bite.  They were big assed horse pills, but after a few days, took care of the funk.  My calf at least doubled in size.

I have a male cat that went through the antibotic deal from the vet and it worked . It did come back in two weeks and his urine looked like blood, it scraed the crap out of us.I went on line and found a homopathic compound that knocked it out in two weeks and they love the taste just sprinkle a pinch on their food a couple of times a day.I also found that if I fed him canfood with some water added it helped with more urine output this also helps. We took him to the vet when he got better and the vet was very interested in the product because antibiotics don't always work and it can be fatal to cats  .

The product   UTI-Free

Web add:  PetAlive.com

I ordered three   20g bottles  It treated him for two months with a bottle for next time We have four cats

   Hope this helps   BobP

Augmentin, my son's taken it quite a few times before with ear infections, worked better than whatever they gave him before that. This was a light orange flavored liquid, but $167 sounds damn expensive.
