This is a wheelbug. it is a member of the assassin bug family. They get their name from the spiky "wheel" armor on their thorax. The dark picture (blue arrow) shows the mouth that they use to pierce and suck the juices from other bugs. Supposedly they can give a painful bite as well. She was on the side of my house today.    |
