I'm kinda convinced they are jacking with my internets. I don't think they like it when I do stuff like download ten gigs in a single day. (Lord of the rings online became free so I downloaded it)

I got a technician out to my apartment to see why my internet was not working for nearly 4 days...turns out someone came to disconnect someone's service because of non-payment and pulled mine instead.

My internet is buggy too, the modem loses signal randomly.

Same thing happened to my mother.  Comcast technician disconnected her cable while installing internet.  Another technician had to come out and reconnect.  Comcast charged her for their fuck up and wouldn't take it off her bill.  Next time I visit, I'm switching her to AT&T.

I would check the make and model number of your modem and see if its compatible with the speeds you subscribe to.

I occasionally see customers with outdated modems that aren't compatible, and it might cause a significant downgrade to your connect speeds.

yeah i get about 20 minutes on mine before it goes out again.



comcast refuses to do anything about it, but its either that or hughesnet.

Depends on your area.  I've always had VERY good speeds here with Comcast.  I will say though that if something sucks with them good luck getting it fixed.  Luckily I'm a geek and fix most issues myself or can point them to the problem on their end.

Here's a speedtest I just ran.  And this is with my son playing the new game, Final Fantasy 14, that came out today.

Actually internet with comcast is about the only thing they have going for them around here.



Their cable TV service absolutely sucks ass. Shitty packages, dropped channels, customer service that doesn't know dick, the WORST hardware I've ever used, service outages, failure to show up on time, no one in the offices can correctly copy a simple fucking phone number/name/address so they have plausible deniability when they fail to call/show up to fix whatever is broken.




In 15 years of having timewarner in Tampa they were on-the-spot with top notch service, comcast is complete shit comparatively speaking....only game in town though.







But regarding internet speeds...in FL I had Timewarner and the speeds were not great, here in TN the speeds are generally somewhat (although mine's a little slower tonight than usual).

I'm getting what  pay for, which with RCN never happened.

However their cable tv is less than stellar. Some channels are just fucked up as in the color just isn't right. There are also service outages on certain channels, this tends to happen when everyone is watching the same channel. So being in State College everyone watches the Penn state games so I missed the first 20 min of the PSU - Bama game, and it died right at 7 when everyone switched channels.

I dumped them and now use my phone's 3G through my laptop. It's not blazing fast but I can't tell the difference.

They have monopoly in my area and are by far the worst ISP I've ever had the displeasure of buying from. When they installed it, the damn ape technician cracked and damaged the paint on my wall

I've waited for hours on their customer 'service' lines, to no avail. If any other company gets out here I'll drop Comcast immediately.

They're the Obama administration of ISP's!!!
