I graduated in 1989 from the University of Florida. I lived in a $90/mo dive, ate Ramen Noodles as a staple, bought used books and walked to classes. It cost me a bit over $22,000 for my bachelor's degree.

I figured that out years ago.

Got my AD and completed all my university nursing program prerequisites. Graduated with no debt, working part time making $10/hr during the semester and full time in the summer.

On my junior year of the nursing program at the university level now. Got a better job, worked full time in the summer and am working part time. In that time I've bought an (essentially new) used car fully paid off and have no CC or tuition debt.

I'll graduate a free man with a great career ahead of me.

Why people take out massive tuition loans when they're going to college just for the sake of going to college is beyond me.

That's all well and good, but I don't hire my kids out of state school, I hire out of Ivies, Stanford, Chicago etc.

Good 'ol academic elitism...
