She is dying and yes if I was told that they could save her but it would kill me I would say go head and not think about it.

Nope. Now if you worded it, would you defend your family, wife ect. to the death, sure. But I don't consider that a sacrific, just doing your job.

Sacrifice is the wrong word.

A sacrifice is when you exchange a tangible value for an intangible one.

Since I believe my wife's life is of value, I'd be buying it with my own.

Hardly a sacrifice.

You  may want to look again at your definition of sacrifice.  You're either defining sacrifice itself incorrectly, or you are defining tangible/intangible incorrectly.  Tangibility has nothing to do with it.

Which seems like a bargain for what they get in return.

I don't see the problem...

A sacrificial offering involved surrendering something of great value as a propitiation (or appeasement.)  Sacrificial offerings are an act of obedience to authority.

I suppose I could say that I'd trade my life for her's, but that would imply a degree of equivalence in value.

In general, I reject the use of the word "sacrifice" when used in situations that are clearly dealing with voluntary economic exchange.  ("Children are a huge sacrifice." would be a good example.)

Roger that.   And there was a time I would have given it for this country, BUT I am glad I did not have to like 58,000+ did.  And now they are making some of our running  shoes in Vietnam.   Did you know that?  And our government is negotiating to use a naval port there, I understand.   Maybe Cam Rahn Bay?   I'm not sure.  What a world we live in.

Heck, I've even prayed that God would heal her and let me be sick (same with my kids) since I feel like I can deal with being hurt or sick better than they can, and I hate seeing them that way.
same here

not married, but yes i would.

although i'd prefer the alternative of being able to fight and we both survive.

however, if you're talking about the typical jump in front of a bullet, push her away from an oncoming car, that sort of thing my answer is a definite yes without any hesitation.

I tell her all the time that given an option I must die not her.

Nobody else would be so great with the 4 kids and I have a low tolerance for insanity (kids = insanity).

I would die protecting my wife and 4 kids.  She's hot and could remarry.  Me on the other hand I had a hard enough time convincing my now wife to marry me.

Nobody would want me with 4 kids

Yup.  I love my wife very much and I know that my kids would be better off with her as the only parent than me as an only parent.

This, I don't know if I could be a single father with 3 boys.  But I would die trying to protect any of my family.
