Eating cinnamon has been shown to decrease blood glucose levels and decrease insulin resistance.  Eat a teaspoon or two a day.  That's also a weight loss strategy.

I started ciniammon extract pills in early August, just to see if the hype was justified (sister gave me an article on the subject) and right now the jury's still out on whether it's helping my glucose level.  For $12 a bottle and two a day, it's not breaking the bank, but I wouldn't run out and buy a case of them tomorrow.

OP needs to monitor food intake for a bit, measure with a meter and go from there seeing if medication is needed.

My dad and brother are gastros and both state that exercise and losing weight can reduce glucose levels to a point where medications aren't needed in Type 2s, so that's where I'd start if I were the OP.  Obviously, the trips to Dunkin'Donuts and 7-11 for sugary snacks will have to be curtailed.
