Amazing... Eminem is beyond talented. Haters gonna hate. |
|
Funny thing is, the only part of that song I can stand to hear is Ms. Rihanna's part.
Her voice is smoother & sweeter than Mexican Coca-Cola. |

I like Eminem. His earlier stuff was a bit /b/ but has matured quite a bit for better or worse. If you don't like his music you at least have to respect him for making it big in a 99.99% black field, overcoming the Vanilla Ice issue, and helping to bring rap to a higher level (along with Dre, Snoop, Nas and others at the same time).
I know most of you won't give rap a second chance since it's not "your" music but at least give Eminem a shot. His duos with Dido and Rihanna are good to start with if you don't like rap just to get used to the rhythm. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised that rap has evolved a lot. it's not just bitches niggas hoes 8-balls and gats to a drum beat and scratchboard anymore. Jay-Z doesn't even use four letter words in his. Sometimes I like the old school stuff, used to keep Compton's Greatest Music to Drive By on cue in the car changer if the mood struck. Rap is a lot more artistic, intelligent and honest than what passes for country music these days. Give it a shot. -Mentally ill from Arfcomville |

Good shit. That CD is currently in my stereo. Probably should have bought the CD, but opted to download the single to my iPhone just now... and whomever commented on Rhianna's voice, agreed, pure sex |

I'd have to argue that point with you a bit.But listening to the song you posted he is very talented and I will be looking into the rest of his stuff. Thank You. |
|
Talent aside, I can't stand the entitlement mentality that pervades his earlier work. Whether or not it's still present, I don't know, haven't heard any of his other new songs. That mentality alone is enough to make me despise the man.

Listened to entire Recovery album earlier today.
He's brilliant. <- Em Avatar. |

I would congratulate him on his success, but I'm not a fan of his music. He's obviously a hard working, self-made man who started with nothing and achieved monumentally. For that, I do respect him a great deal. Same can be said about almost every other rapper. If the majority of the fans were anything but ignorant, uneducated, illiterate, adolescents, they wouldn't have an audience. |

The majority of their fans are upper middle class white adolescents who go to decent schools and play varsity sports and end up going to and graduating from college. You do realize the rap and hip hop industry is largely focused at suburban youth right? |

If you look at the majority of the people at lets say 50 cent's concert––the majority are girls and "suburban"..(I'm trying this new PC thing ) |

I like Rhianna chorus line,
I'm more down with Won't Back Down Ft Pink myself, |

No use for the sawed off talent less hack. You're right, Eminem is completely talentless. Congratulations you really took him down a peg. Sorry, had to break my own rule for a sec. |

"Yeah I probably got a couple screws up in my head loose,
But no worse than what's going on in your parents bedroom" Impressive |

I actually like his newer stuff.
Early in his career he was good, then he lost it real quick with whatever crap he was putting out, and now he seems to be back on top of it again. At least he raps about life instead of facebook or other stupid shit. |

I didn't buy relapse until I had bought Recovery. Been a big fan but everyone said relapse was terrible. Well, fuck, I don't listen to recovery anymore, relapse was fucking brilliant.

And what he talks about a lot of you can relate to in some way whats going on. I cant relate to rolling around in a pimpmobile throwing money at strippers, but I can relate to losing a friend. |

That may be the greatest song ever (in my opinion) I never was a huge fan of the whole "Slim shady" Persona, but the Marshall mathers, eminem show, recovery, relapse (yea, i dug relapse... im not a huge fan of the accent thing, but it works well wiht those songs) but alot of his shit has some actual things that alot of people can relate to..instead of just talking about how good or bad love is, he may say just how fucked up love is... listen to these.. superman going through cahnges rock bottom if i had beautiful careful what you wish for toy soldiers the way i am stan like toy soldiers till i collapse sing for teh moment Kim( if you have ever been cheated on, or are pissed off at a girl...put that song on repeat.) no apologies rabbit run 8 mile lose yourself how come thats my list off the top of my head of his songs that i dig that have a deeper meaning to me. some of the stuff that guy puts out is just stupid and dumb (Fack) and some of it can be pretty damn funny (Bagpipes from bagdad. Girls. my band) Listen to his stuff alllllll day |

What is it about these threads? Like I've said in another thread...
We don't barge into country & western threads calling you sister fucking douchebags...why can't you have the same respect? |
|
He's a brilliant artist.
He's also allegedly opening tonight at the VMA's. Set your DVRs! |
|
I saw this thread last night while I was at work. I turned the video on since I've haven't seen it yet and turned the music up pretty loud while my co-worker was talking to some 24 year old douchebag that was just brought to jail for assault domestic violence on his girlfriend (and a few added charges to go along, I might have been the douchebag for playing the song on purpose). I wonder if he got the message?

It's amazing what passes for 'deep' with some of you these days. No wonder the country is going down the shitter. The original Eminem: http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/04_02/iceLFI1104_468x762.jpg Its not about depth as much as current cultural norms. This guy is not some brilliant scientist that will cure cancer but he does represent some the currently perceived social problems. |

The part of me that is violent and twisted loves his music: the man in me is strong enough to admit it.

For the haters, listen to this one...they even played it on rock stations.

He's the only rap I can not only listen to, but enjoy as well. I've listened to him since about 7th grade. That said, Relapse was friggin' awesome, but Recovery is pretty toned down and mainstream. Me too, some of the old stuff is OK, the Tupac/Doggystyle era. Since then, crap crap crap. Eminem is pretty damn good though. But, I don't expect the fudds here to try anything outside their tiny box or like anything they didn't like in 1970. |

At least its got SOME depth. |

Where I work they listen to a "Mix" station that plays everything from pop, rock, country, etc... Kind of a top ten from every genre and this song gets heavy rotation. Because of that I have Rihanna's part stuck in my head all the time, I mean ALL THE FUCKING TIME, Hell I think I was even dreaming it last night. |

He is an amazing story teller. He tells stories in a hip hop medium. Interesting to see the changes through the years.
