Well, his opponent voted for NAFTA, voted for GATT, voted for the AWB, voted NOT to protect gun companies from lawsuits, voted TWICE to close the gun show "loophole," and helped to sell Leghman Brothers' toxic assets to the retirement fund of Ohio public employees costing Ohio millions of dollars.  All of that makes me think Kasich does not, in fact, like Americans and especially Ohioans, very much.

Strickland voted for 'favored trade status' for China in 93 and 94 , so how's that any different?

While Kasich may not be good on gun rights, Strickland still supports the Obama agenda. Strickland doesn't have my vote. Even if that means giving Kasich another chance on gun rights.

And Kasich supported the Clinton agenda.  NOW he claims to be a tax-cutting "conservative" - he's an opportunist and there's no telling what he'll do next to enrich himself at Ohioans' expense.

The 2 biggest reasons I will be voting for Kasich will be #1 that Strickland supports Obama on many levels, one of those is state/federal sponsorship of Abortion. #2 is the fact that Strickland has stated many times that private institutions shouldn't be allowed to educate. He is EXTREMELY against homeschooling and religious institutions involvement in schooling , and as someone who was homeschooled, and hopes to homeschool his children,I can't support someone who feels that way.

Just wait until we get closer to November.

You're going to see more insanity and desperation driving them toward some idiotic moves as they recognize that they've been lying to themselves thinking that the American people support their communist goals.

Look Democrats people elected Obama, because they thought they were getting Will Smith as President. Now they know they made a BIG mistake and all Democrats are going to pay for that mistake.

Strickland also granted clemency to that shit bag murderer Kevin Keith last week, and said he was still open to a pardon if the evidence was strong enough.  The same evidence that the Ohio State Supreme court reviewed and refused to stay his execution, or grant him yet another appeal.  Strickland can FOAD.

Just like Kasich, Strickland voted against partial birth abortions and voted against allowing minors to be transported across state lines to get an abortion when those votes came up while they were in the House together.  Obviously, his record on abortion isn't perfect but he isn't a radical on the topic.

I wish we could.

Shitty choice either way.

Strickland has done what he said he would do with respect to RKBA but he's obviously a moonbat and Kasich is a RINO.

Cordray is a Dem and he has been superb for RKBA, his RINO opponent, Dewine, has stated no honest person needs an AR15. Dewine, our former Senator, can't seem to find honest work so he's a career political hack trying to weasel his way into the AG slot.

Easy choice there.

Good assessment of our situation. Now if that weasel Lee Fisher would just *disappear*.

Sorry, I don't buy that "Blue Dog" stuff anymore.

The Democratic party has been hijacked by radical left wing socialists and environmentalist whackos.

They can claim not to be on the socialist left all they want, but as far as I'm concerned if they belong to that party to begin with, they are supporting the socialist left's agenda.

The choices are just as bad in the gubernatorial election here in California.  Whitman vs. Brown.  Choices so awful I will for the first time in such an election vote for neither.

Part of why I stopped going there.  That and some people seem to be really pro-gay and anythng you say against gays makes you a liberty-hating bigot who probably doesn't care about gun rights either or is just a hypocrite, and of course when someone tries to make a good argument against them, they make utterly idiotic ones, including some of the supposed "smart guys," and everyone just eats up whatever those guys say even if it is totally stupid (bweise being the worst offender).  I was arguing with a guy I think with the username Gray Peterson and his response to my argument in a gay-related thread (posted in the 2nd Amendment forum of all places) was so dumb and also so hypocritical given his other opinions on legal interpretation that I just said to hell with that place.  Between that and the Jerry Brown shills it can get really anooying.  Somehow we are supposed to trust that JB will be pro-gun in office when he hasn't done anything truly substantial while also trusting that he will not destroy California or have us lose freedom in every other way (or even if he does, according to bweise that is acceptable as long as he doesn't hurt gun rights, because that is apparently the only thing that is important, even moreso than putting food on the table apparently).

Well when one must appeal to the lowest common denominator this tends to be what you get.  If you want good candidates you'll have to live somewhere that isn't a democracy, de facto or de jure.

When the legislation modifying Ohio's concealed carry law to allow carry in an establishment the serves liquor (as long as the permit holder does not imbibe) comes to the governor's desk and Kasich vetoes it, then we'll see how you all like him.

He supported the 1994 AWB ban, he voted against the effort to repeal it after Gingrich and the Republicans took over the house, and everything he says now about the second amendment is a lie to achieve his goal of election to governor. he can apologize all he wants, but talk is cheap, look to his record.

I was talking about locals.  It's been a little while since I've paid attention to local politics outside of my locality, but there used to be quite a few old-school conservative Democrats in the panhandle of Florida.

And just because you are a registered Dem does not make you a Liberal.  My roommate has been registered as a Democrat since he was 18 because it's what conservatives did where he was from.  But he's worked for a Republican Congressman, and is far more conservative than quite a few posters on arfcom.
