I'm thinking about getting an inexpensive yet high quality microphone for close-mic sound recording. Podcasting, voice-over, and maybe a little ham radio work, too.

I'm thinking about a Heil HM-Pro+. Not too expensive, but if there's something better at that price point, please let me know!

Audiophile? You want to have sex with a microphone?

I must be old school. I vote Sure SM57 for just about everything... vocal, drums, guitar cabinets. It is the jack of all trades and priced right.

You must know I'm a TWiT listner! I'd get the PR40 if I had the cash.

My dad used to have a Shure SM58, but for the last couple years, I can't for the life of me find the darned thing! That was a nice mic, too!

When I was younger, we always used to use the SM58s, a very good mic for the money in my opinion.
