I work part time at a surplus store. Yesterday I came across an A2 upper forging. It is mark F K (for FNMI Kaiser) by the rear sight, and has the forge code 8854 KAO-100 where the ejection port would be.

Owner said he has had it since at least 94. Is it worth anything? If not, how would I go about getting it milled out? He said he had a bunch of lowers, too, but he sold them to a machinist in the 90s.

If it managed to get into a surplus store, what are the chances it is a reject?  Sounds like a bad idea.  Might be a cool thing to keep around.

Not a reject. Was in a crate of uppers that were on a truck being delivered for finishing. Truck ran off the road due to a pile up ahead. Insurance held by the carrier wrote the load off and paid for a new batch.  The uppers and lowers were sold at a salvage auction.  They were not damaged in the accident.

By "finishing", do you mean machining?

To me, finishing would denote anodizing.
