| I'm going to be starting in a fantasy football draft here in a couple hours, where should I place my priorities? First pick to be a top quarterback? running back? Or should I use my first picks to go after the top defensive players first? decisions, decisions. |

NEVER a defensive player! It depends on your leagues scoring...can you post that? Using ESPN's free fantasy, their standard type settings. Ok then this is probably what I would do as a general rule: First 3 rounds get 2 RBs and a QB and make sure to grab a top QB (Rogers, Manning, Brady, Brees). Wait until 4th rd to get WRs. After the top few, there really isn't much difference. Don't forgot about TEs. It might make since to draft Gates as opposed to getting a decent reciever. This is usually what I do and I usually finish in the top 3 in my leagues. PM me if you have any other questions. |

Especially if solo tackles count....there are always a bunch of D players that will get a lot of tackles. |

Quoted: Quoted: depends on how many people are in your league and what position you are in to start the draft. 10 teams, I believe I am 9th in the draft order. If the first 8 take RB's you might want to take Drew Brees or Manning because you will be drafting again one pick later. Then you can take a so so RB or a top rated receiver. |

Ah thanks, I forgot that when the first round ends, it goes in reverse order. |

In a 10 team league, I would be the last person to take a QB. The difference between the best QB and the 10th best QB is generally 50 points over 14 weeks. That is 3.5 points per week. Think you can improve your running back by 3.5 points per week by drafting 2 or 3 rounds earlier? I bet you can. Take a QB in the 7th. Kolb, Stafford, Palmer should all be available there. Hell, there is even a chance that Rivers, Shaub, or Brett Favre could still be there. DO NOT take a kicker before the last round, or a Defense before the next to last round, or a Defensive Player before the 3rd to last round. The odds of you having any of those 3 players that you draft at the end of the season are about 20-1.

With the ninth pick, you'll also have the twelfth pick. At #9 take the best RB that's left. At 12, take the premier QB. Way later at 29 take the next best back. - my $.02 |

With my first pick, I go with a the top QB... everyone does RBs, got to use different strategy. Here's why I use QBs first: The give the most net TDs in a season. Just that simple. A great RB in a rare year may net you 15 td and he's you top scorer, but a top 3 QB will land you 22-26 net TDs per season plus yardage that goes 3000-4000 yards, a RB will be less than 2000. I've used this strategy for the past 4 years and have been in the final game 3 times, won twice. Would have been 4 but I screwed up and didn't pay any attention to the Bye Weeks... had half my team off twice. . |

Needed to add something... I just noticed your draft order, you're coming in late so I'd definetly go with QB and if all the top RBs and WRs are gone, go with Vernon Davis TE of the 49ers... he pulls in more tds than most WRs. Pick #1 Drew Brees, Pick #2, Vernon Davis = 40+ net tds last season. |

If any of the RB's are on the board at the 9th pick, grab him. if they are, its because somebody took Rodgers, Brees, and/or Manning in the first 7 picks. Chris Johnson Adrian Peterson Maurice Jone-Drew Ray Rice Michael Turner Frank Gore Definitely snag one of those three QB's if they are available when your 2nd round pick comes around. If they aren't, then grab a top 10 RB (if any are still available,) or the best WR on the board. If you don't get the 'big three' QB's, then wait until the 4th or 5th round to get yours (unless, of course, they start flying off the list.) |
