Just came back from MEPS. My fat ass weighed 10lbs over max weight for the Air Force. Weighed in at a staggering 180lbs at 5'6.25''. I really thought I was taller than 5'7''. BF 25%... Im no where near 25. I dont probably tip the 15%+ scale. So now. I have 5 weeks to diet and get down to 170 or below. Thats 2 lbs a week. Damn, I was really hoping to enlist by the end of the week.

I've lived in the gym for the last 6 years. For me to get to 170lbs I'll be pretty darn shredded. |

Calipers/tape > personal opinion in the BF accuracy department. They just measured neckline and stomach... ![]() Yup. Granted, if your neck is bigger than your head, you could hermetically seal the commander's hatch in a Bradley and you'll pass. For every normal human, it's actually not that far off. Don't think I'm the skinny guy busting on the fatties...I'm one biscuit shy of 230 myself. |

It's not the 6 years in the gym that makes people bust tape...they aren't measuring biceps, chest and thighs. You can be a barrel-shaped gym rat and pass tape...you just need to develope an intimate aquaintance with the neck machine. Get your neck above 17" and you'll be fine. Calipers are more accurate, but only by a percent or so...not enough for the .mil to worry about it. |

Calipers/tape > personal opinion in the BF accuracy department. They just measured neckline and stomach... ![]() That's the tape test and is pretty close if you do it right. Really? That's cool. What is the formula, OOC? you can look it up online. Formula is the difference in neck and belly circumference, cross-referenced on a table of height to the nearest 1/2". It's not adjusted for weight; weight just gets you taped or not. |

Quoted: Thats funny because every AF officer I have ever met besides pilots and many enlisted types are all fat, so WTF? That's funny, because you're clearly not in the Air Force. If you took the time to look at the fit test requirements, you'd realize that they are, in some ways, harder than the Marines or the Army. Every branch has their fatties; it's incumbent on the leadership to bring them to standards or weed them out. By the way, 39 years old, 71 inches tall, and 175. And working to make it 170. |

How hard is it to do about 30 push-ups in a minute, 40 sit-ups in a minute, and not have a 38" waist? Sure the other branches get two minutes to do a few more required reps for their minimum but who can't do the minimums? |

15% body fat is borderline six pack. You gotta be pretty muscular to be 180 at 5'6" No way I was at 13.5 (taped) when I was 5'9 170 and I still had winter layer on Most people of the people on the bodybuilding forums I have seen that say they have been measured at 13% had a six pack. Only a few didn't. |

Many hospitals have "wellness programs" that offer various forms of fitness testing and counseling for a usually reasonable fee. You might be able to get a medical body fat comp test, plus overall evaluation for a small fee.
In fact, i work out at a hospital wellness center (by far the nicest gym in town) and recently one of the physiologists told me she occasionally works with recruits in your exact position. |

And if you read what i posted you will see that no where did I say i was AF, and I also said 'all the ones I have seen', not 'all of them period' Im glad you are in such great shape because you seem to be lacking in comprehension, perhaps a reading problem? |

If I sit around all winter and go on a four or five day backpacking trip in the spring I can drop 7-10 pounds or so quick. Keeping it gone is what's tough. |

Go to walmart Find stuff called Magnesium Citrate Drink two bottles Lock youself in the bathroom. You will lose more than you need. I lost ~13 pounds in 2 days drinking 2 bottles every 8 hours. 24 pounds in 2 days went through ungodly amounts of the stuff and sitting in the sauna for hours. I still to this day cannot drink sprite cause it reminds me of it. backstory, I was early in my career a night crew rat with a KFC and beer habit and my weight got out of control. After my little death watch I swore to never do that again and started working out. Fucking horrible. You essentially deplete your body of all fluids and nutrients. Near death experience, although the gatorade I drank after weigh in was the best fucking thing I ever drank. EVER

15% body fat is borderline six pack. You gotta be pretty muscular to be 180 at 5'6" borderline six pack.... from my understanding... six packs are acheived at the range of 5-8% Body fat. That is a HUGE difference. But.. I still have 10lbs plus some.. Lets hope I can keep this routine I have going during college coming up.

I thought I was 5'7''... Apparently I wasn't. (Told the recruiter that) The difference in weight I needed went from 176 to 170. At If I was 5'7'' @ 180lbs I would be in the .mil right now BUT.... woops. Im not. Shorter than I thought. |

you can lose that in a couple of days, start drinking a ton of water and running, keto cycle and lower your sodium intake a bit over the next couple of weeks you'll lose way more than 10 lbs. Unfortunately they said 5 weeks... If I could redo it next week I would be running in garbage bags rocking out to rocky theme song. Bring me back to the ol wrestling days when we had to make weight in....

Wait, I'm confused. Was this post just a simple declaration as in "Damn, I'm heavy!"? Or was it more a request for help as in "Damn. I'm heavy. Can you help a brother out?"? Nah, this brother is just venting. Kinda hitting myself in the head for being a lead weight. |
