I use a box to assemble the lower in. Try that next time. I have assembled dozens of rifles and it seems to happen about every time. The box helps immensely.

I believe that's a 3/32" pin.  Check the hole size to see if that makes sense.

They make a tool to start the pin so it doesnt go ping.  Get a set of roll pin punches and starter punches.  Well worth it.  No more fucking up the finish on the receiver.

you'd think..but there are lots of places to hide in the shop..

I was holding it with needle nose, pressing with taped vise grips when it just popped out of the pliers...

I decided to build one as a personal challenge, have been putting together 1911's for several years, some minor smithing and can assemble and disasemble blindfolded short of the main springs, and could probably do that by feel if pushed...so,,needed to conquer a new gun... gun won

thanks guys...3/32' looks right, the build in a box idea is grand and I am putting together a small parts order with rock river...

If you don't have a spare handy cut the shank off a drill bit.
Instant pin, and better than the original

i got a new roll pin for one that got damaged by a ham-handed install attempt at Tractor Supply.....come to think of it, I also found 1/16" roll pins that I used for pinned 1911 front sights there too.

I like Tractor Supply.....every time I need something odd, they usually have it.

Oh––-and +1 to the roll pin starter punches.

Yeah , you'll be glad you did .

I got tired of launching detents across the room into black holes ( I did find ONE when we moved though) so the last time I was at Me Mil Supply , I stocked up on all the small parts as spares .

And another vote for roll-pin punches.

If you're in the Dallas area, Gunmaster in Plano should carry them.
