Problem with the ATM today. The machine wouldn't acknowledge my card for a minute and then it blue sceened....Then it went straight to asking whether I wanted to withdrawal money without ever asking for a pin #.

Was it a real bank ATM?  Hopefully not just a card skimmer set up to steal your account info.

It was built into the building at a local PNC bank branch

I'd probably have a discussion with the bank tomorrow, and ask for a new card.  And change my PIN.

Bigger problem than most realize. Always give the card reader/acceptor a little "tug" to make sure it's not a skimmer. Of course at gas stations pumps it can be an even worse problem.

Got skimmed at a gas station a few months ago. My bank called asking about some charges which they had declined even though there was enough money in the account.

The problem there is the skimmer can be installed on the inside of the panel at the pump. No way to tell.

Golden opportunity to do some serious hacking.

Just think, you could be retired right now.

I got to see this demonstrated live the other week, for any of you who use stand alone ATMs, it may be a good idea to avoid them all together.
