Picture of the day: 13 August 2010

Winnie Langley, who smoked for 95 years from the age of seven, has died at 102 years old - a month short of her 103rd birthday. She is pictured here lighting what was thought to roughly be her 170,000 cigarette on her 100th birthday. She gave up just before Christmas because she was no longer able to see the end of the match

After smoking that long, I bet she could sing bass in the Church Choir... if she could have held a note longer than 3 seconds.

Still, Rest in Peace, Winnie.

Just more proof that those who smoke will die prematurely.

My Nana died at 90 smoking from the age of 14.  She had a massive brain tumor though and died within a month of figuring that one out.
On the other hand both my grandfathers smoked and both got emphysema and bone cancer and died at the age of 70.
I don't smoke partially because of them.

Probably adds a whole new dimension to old person smell.

Just imagine how much longer she could have lived had she not smoked!

It was going to be the cigarettes or the UK Health System that would have killed her.
