Some of you may know that yesterday there was massive flooding in Pike County, Kentucky. According to my gf's mom it was the worst flooding they have seen in over 40 years. My partner is from Pikeville, and we both have family and friends living in Pike County. So far, they have identified two people who have died, one was one of my gf's friends, and there are other people missing.
My partner's folks live near one of the creeks. We found out late last night that they are okay and staying with friends, but they got flooded out of their house––my gf said that in all the years the family has been in that area, water has never gotten up to the house. She also said, that some friends of hers had to be rescued from the roof of their house. There are still a lot of people without power and water. Right now, we are trying to track down some family in the Kimper area which got hit pretty hard. The flood waters have receded for now, but more rain is headed their way. We could really use some well-wishes though that they are all right, and can make it through the week. |
