Watched a show on Planet Green channel ( I know, I know ) about the fish and game commission in New Zealand. Environmental wackos on the Sea Shepard dock in NZ for repairs. Police do a search of all vessels which sail into port, for any firearm that are restricted. On board the Shepard, police find a Barrett .50 calibre rifle, Winchester shotgun, BP revolver, pepper spray and a taser.
Shipboard personnel claim they run into drug runners and poachers and need to defend themselves from pirates. |

Sounds a little anemic to me. The Barrett is okay, but I was thinking something crew-served.
You should be able to posses firearms for protection while on the open sea. So what if you need to come into port in another country? It shouldn't be a crime to protect yourself with whatever you need. |

We're talking about the ship the Sea Shepard. When have they had to protect themselves, they're the antagonists on the water not some placid little tour boat. Would I trust a bunch of hippies with a Barrett, shit, I wouldn't trust them with a pea shooter. They are the pirates, who are antagonizing the Japanese whaling fleet.

You can have whatever you want, as long as you comply with the laws of the nation where you are flagged, and the nation that has jurisdiction of the waters you are sailing in. It would be very nice to have whatever, but other countries have different laws. |
