Need to know fast if I have a major issue. Just traded a guy and I have a little time to trade back if there is a problem.
Upon receiving it, the EO 512 rev F would turn off when I mounted it. (Would be on, then shut off when I torqued it down properly) Decided the battery might be the problem. Installed new batteries and it seemed to work perfectly. Then I head to the range and hour ago. I will admit all I have on hand are new, but bullshit cheap bulk batteries. At the range it went dim from the recoil on my first shot, but then was perfect after that. Then I take a break to go to my truck to get something, after I return to the gun it has gone dim again. Not off, but at lowest setting probably. Would premium batteries solve this? Is this a real problem? Eject? |

Ok how do I check if its real? I checked the obvious (no button in middle, no reticle change) Open the batt compartment and take a pic of the contacts....as well as the glass, rear, side (L & R), top, bottom and front. We can tell... Ok doing that now |

I love eotechs but the battery cases and contact points are weak and in my opinion a fairly poor design.
I have one case that is almost brand new (no corrosion, no loose springs or rubber shock pads) which won't deliver more than 1.2v with fresh batteries. So clearly a shitty connection somwhere on a VERY simple circuit. Solution: I took a bare piece of 16 gauge copper wire and bent it into a shape like O-O and dropped it into the bottom of the battery compartment (the part which is towards the front of the rifle) so that the wire sat on the little foam pads and spring contacts. Then I set my batteris on top and it now delivered the full 3v. Then I clamped it shut on the optic. It was a tight fit but this solved the problem. |

I see you have the GG&G covers over the lenses. Was the whole top of the housing replaced with one from GG&G? if so Eotech will not warranty it if the cover has been changed. I think this is an internet myth, has EoTech stated this somewhere? From their warranty page. This warranty does not cover defects caused by improper handling, installation or maintenance, abnormal use or unapproved alterations. EOTech shall not, in any event, be liable for any damages, including any lost profits, lost savings or any other incidental or consequential damages arising out of the use or inability to use such products. This warranty gives the owner certain legal rights, and possibly other rights, which vary from state to state.

It sounds like someone may have put in the wrong batteries in yours and fried the board. $65 will get it fixed for ya. |

The unit looks like a real Eotech. It is almost certainly the battery contacts. That is the weakest link for this optic. I have had 5 Eo's and only one had BC issues. It was a 512. I sent it back, and got fantastic CS. They fixed it and sent it back in 7 days, and they did not charge me because all it needed was a drop in replacement contact.
It still works to this day....about 4 years old now. |

They are much lighter and do not shift around, thus possibly damaging the contacts. |

I have four, two of them have been back for repair and one is dimmer than the rest and needs to go back. It's so bad that in full daylight the sight washes out. I just haven't' gotten around to doing it yet as I have a spare.
Customer service from them has always been top notch. |

L3 is in beaucoup legal trouble.
