Ok so I moved into my new house in May and am now getting around to planning out my backyard.  As of right now it is bare dirt and a fence.

On the large side of the house I will be putting in RV parking / dog run and the small side just gravel for drainage and ease of maintenance.  The back is about 18' or so deep and about 60' - 70' wide (I haven't gotten an exact measurement yet)

My plan so far includes a raised rock wall / planter along the back fence that runs the length of the yard.  I will then put in a stone patio about 16' x 20' coming off the back door.  Then just grass for the rest.  Basically I have an idea of what I want but not sure how it will come out.

I am just looking for some ideas / pictures of what to do here.  Also I figure this to be expensive so any tips or cost efficient ways to do this would be great.

I have included some MS paint for yard diagram.

ETA:  If I do the planter on the back fence, I am looking to put small trees or big shrubs in it.  Any suggestions for this?  Would prefer trees under 10' tall mature so I don't lose my view of the mountains.
