Ok, I have this facebook account.  It's not my thing but I keep running into old friends with it.  I put a link to arfcom general d. on my front page

I don't even have a dozen friends on it.

Well I sent a friend request to this good female acquaintance last monday (6/21) .  For a week, it says "awaiting friend confirmation" when I go to her page.  I'm thinking wtf?  I could tell she was on her facebook during the last 7 days.  It seems odd that she wouldn't just click "friend."  Well today, instead of saying "awaiting friend confirmation," it went back to saying "add as friend."  WTFFFFFFF?  Did she click "ignore" to the friend request, or is this what facebook's retarded programming does if someone doesn't click "accept" soon enough?  The very fact that I have to ask is effing proof that facebook's code was written by a staff of double morons of the DMV variety.  Simple things like this should be clear and easy to understand.  Not with facebook.  So for the love of pete, if someone clicks "ignore" on facebook, as the result of a friend request, WOULDN'T IT BE LOGICAL FOR THE MOTHER FUCKING SITE TO TELL YOU THAT THEY CLICKED IGNORE??!!!  Why would it say "add as friend" again?  P.O.S. facebook.  I would like to smear my last duke through the air holes on their servers

Confusion is the name of the game with that crappy site.  This is why they had to recently update their privacy policies because so many people were confused by facebook's idiocy.  Most facebook users are clueless about how much info people can see.

The functionality of facebook is so retarded, it's as if an inner city junior high summer school computer class designed it .  Don't even get me started on the utterly moronic search function.  You put in a name of a friend (no field to narrow it by state) and you get a list of hundreds of people all over the globe with the same name.  Stupid as BP's pr dept.  Oh but hell, you can narrow the search by school as if everyone is a schoolkid.

Getting ignored really gets to you, huh?

Eta: FB won't tell users when they get ignored because they don't want any hurt feelings.

And the school search feature is a result of Facebooks origins. It started as a university networking site created by students...

Facebook has a "discreetly ignore" function.  This changes the "awaiting confirmation" to "add as friend".

Basically, she doesn't like you, and she's scared as fuck what would happen if she openly told you no.

Didn't you read the op?  I can't tell if I've been ignored or not.  If I had been ignored I would not be bothering with this thread (duh).

Doesn't it strike you as odd that facebook doesn't TELL you that your friend request has been ignored, or rebuffed or whatever?  As I said, it just went back to saying "add as friend" on her page.  WTF?  This encourages people to repeatedly try to add people as friends because they don't even know they were ignored.

Yes I read the whole post. You were ignored. Facebook doesn't notify you in the case of being ignored to avoid any hurt feelings and all that other crap.

So they'd rather people be confused and possibly hit the "add as friend" button again?  I know women who, whenever the computer doesn't give them an instant answer, they keep hitting the same button over and over.  No wonder I hate facebook.  More idiotic programming.

Facebook has revamped itself 10-12 times or something - at one point it was/(still is?) possible to revoke friend requests. If I could tell someone logged into their profile and ignored my request, I revoked it. You know me or you don't. Simple as that.  I knock on a door, and if I don't get an answer? What lies behind it is not of my concern. I then deny them entry to mine

I send out about 10-15 random requests a day.

Then when they accept, I cancel them. Just so they can know that they were discarded.

I believe it's good positive reinforcement, and I like to help others.

Facebook is for college kids.

Are you that dense?

Of course you can search by school.  When it was first released, you could only sign up using a school address.

You've probably been ignored.  I have sent friend requests to people that aren't on Facebook very often and then months later they accept.  I still have a couple that have been in the "awaiting" status for over six months.

Each time she ignores your insecure and immature self, click "Add as Friend" again.  She will eventually block you from ever seeing her on FB again.  She will most likely report you for stalking her too.
