This warrants a GD thread. I had a customer come in today telling me he can shoot his mini 14, its the one with the big ass muzzle dampener on it, at 700 yards punching holes in a 8.5" by 11" sheet of paper. I had to laugh. He told me it is because he has this super fine crosshair scope he got from Walmart. He also said with his 1903 he is shooting coffee cans at 900 yards. Must be a regular sniper.

Where do you find these at? |

Sad, but true. The lightweight barrel of the older Mini-14s were not conducive to accurate, sustained fire. The newer, heavier and shorter barrels are probably better. |

The real question is why isn't he on Top Shot? After seeing the premier of that show, either they were shooting rifles with shot out bores or the rifles weren't zeroed (going for the latter). Their spotters were having a hard time finding the targets at 50 and 100 yds, then calling corrections was a bit disorganized and varied in application. Ima skeptical to say the least... The mini-14 owner probably could of held his own in that show. |

From what it sounds like, he's probably talking about this model: http://www.ruger.com/products/mini14TargetRifleHogue/index.html In which case, he probably did spend more than 1k, and he would have been better off with an AR. I'm not sure why Ruger is continuing the Mini line now that they have the SR-556. Nice idea, but with the market flooded with ARs it has become obsolete. |

Offers others a choice in ban states such as CA. |

Fixed it for ya I told him unless he is shooting the side of a barn at 700 yards with that gun he isn't hitting shit. |

Yeah I forgot, he said he is shooting 3 inches at 700 yards with his mini 14.
Must be magic. He said my setup is a joke: Aimpoint T-1 w/ Larue Mount CMMG 11.5" with a fixed 5.5" FH (Chrome lined 1:7 twist) Magpul UBR Magpul MOE grip Magpul AFG Magpul MBUS Larue 11" Rail System LOL this guy is a real classic. I guess today he brought in the 50 BMG and I was not there. I got him all fired up when I called bullshit, |
