Christ, who did your stitching, Stevie Wonder? It was mess from the start. The scars are actually minimal...all things considered. They put me back together good. To get the thread back on track, I'll say that I would not have attempted what the OP did with my off hand.....

Custom grips from a guy on the S&W forum. Very good for helping tame Keith (265 grain LSWC at 1300+) loads or the Remington boomers. I love these loads. I use them when people at the range start shooting better than I do. One cylinder-full, and everybody on the line has a flinch. The things are God damn loud.

Quoted: Yeah, I got to shoot some of those Keith loads out of a 4" gun. I didn't think they were terrible, but I sure wouldn't want to do it all day. Nice piece. I have a thing for big bore double actions. I could go up a grain and get another 50 fps, but I don't see the point. Fifty is about my limit for a day. I will soon be looking for a 4 inch 29 to match the 6 inch. |

So I stopped off this afternoon and popped off my last few rounds of Remington .44 Magnum through my 6 inch Model 29. I'd forgotten just what a 180 grain JSP at 1650 fps feels like when it goes off in your hand.
Feels gooooooooooooooood. Feels manly. I let you know when I can feel my palm again. Edit: Yes, I CCW'd my 6 inch Model 29 today. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/vanilla_gorilla911/wood106.jpg Ouch is right but it is a good ouch is it not? I once owned a Lew Horton Edition S&W Model 29-3 like this one, only with Hogue Grips. It was one of the most beautifully crafted revolvers I have seen. The finish looked comparable to Osidian (volcanic glass) . It was a high gloss, sooty black and was to this day my favorite finsh on a revolver. It had an unfluted cylinder and target sights and trigger. I traded it off 15 years ago and I still regret it and still remember how it felt as if I had caught a fastball bare handed after shooting it. It was a handful.

I need to get another .44 I used to have a stainless Blackhawk .44 with the 7 1/4" barrel. I got rid of it because single action just isn't my thing, it was really just a novelty gun. Now I'm older (and my arms are a lot bigger and stronger than back then) and I live in an area where you occasionally see bear and mountain lion tracks. I like the Ruger Alaskan. |
