I understand the History Channel isn't what it used to be, but running a Pawn Stars marathon on Memorial Day???? WTF??? |
|
History channel has definitely had a very noticeable decline in quality but as said above they show what makes them money. I don't know about you guys but I couldn't find a single war movie or tribute to the troops on any channel. I remember even back about 5 years ago it seemed that was all that was on during memorial and veterans day weekends. |

i saw the same thing, even TCM isn't showing military movies only AMC. memorial day use to mean something, now it means a cookout and 25% at wal-mart and sears . it's just modern day America where only the few care about what really matters |

I like Pawn Stars, and I can understand that they are a business and have to cater to what brings in the advertisers.
But a Pawn Stars marathon on Memorial Day? They couldn't find something more appropriate that would bring in advertisers, like a Band of Brothers marathon, or war movies? |
| yeah History channel really sucks these days and it used to be one of my favorites. They are constantly running Pawn Stars (which is ok sometimes, but not today) and those American Picker guys they run all the time too annoy the hell out of me. I rarely watch that channel anymore. |
|
Yeah, the segment yesterday about the abolitionist movement after the Fugitive Slave Law of 1850 was really socialist...especially the part where Federal Magistrates were paid $10 to return a slave to its owner, and $5 to set him free. Yessiree, those were the days, eh? |

Quoted: I wouldn't complain about their programing - IF - it wasn't named The History Channel This. I understand they are a business and have no problem with Pawn Stars, (it's history too), etc, etc..... but I'm pretty certain they would not be losing a penny if they ran a days worth of programming related to the sacrafices of our fallen. Hell, they BUILT the History Channel empire on that programming. If it wasn't for "America - The Story of Us," the History Channel would be a total loss. |

You people are not complaining enough.. Go watch America: The story of us. That show is about as evil and socialist-pandering as it gets. I saw a little of that show sunday, got pissed off, and quit watching. Earlier yesterday they were running WW2 in HD. Why not run that all day today? |

I haven't caught it yet, but when I heard The Wonce was giving an opening address to the viewers, I lost all interest in chasing it down until I can TiVo it and FF his ass off my screen. |

No thanks, I will stick to World at War on DVD. Even the original Frank Capra "Why We Fight" series (complete on google video) from 1943 is a win over WW2 in HD. |

Meh, I like Pawn Stars. They could have shown some programming dealing with the holiday, though. The History Channel is about 40% history, and 60% reality TV. I wouldn't even say that much. They aren't what they used to be. I didn't know the network had been sold. That makes more sense. |
