Jonathan Paul “Sparky” Anderson, 54, Gackle, N.D., died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, west of Gackle as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

Mr. Anderson was born Nov. 5, 1955, at Gackle, the son of Jalmer and Betty (Schlichenmayer) Anderson. He grew up and received his education at Gackle Public School and graduated from Gackle High School in 1974. He attended Northwestern College, Roseville, Minn., for one year and bought the family farm in 1977. He married Shelly Knoblich on July 24, 1987, in Shenandoah, Iowa. They lived southwest of Gackle. Over the years he owned and operated Anderson Feed Lot, Anderson Trucking and Sparky’s Gas and Bulk Service.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Erica, Fargo, N.D., and Lindsay, Gackle; a stepson, Tyler Goldade, Jamestown; his mother; three brothers, William (Carol), Clinton, Mo., Jim, Fargo, and Carlton (Jill), Iowa Falls, Iowa; four sisters, Sheila (Rory) Metz, Alfred, N.D., Jean Titlbach, Prairie DuChien, Wis., Josephine (John) Quay, Sewell, N.J., and Carleen (Gary) Pennington, Lynwood, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown, with the Revs. Bill and Carlton Anderson, officiating. Arrangements by Haut Funeral Homes, Gackle.

Prayer service: 7 p.m. Monday, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gackle.

Visitation: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Gackle Funeral Chapel, Gackle, and 11:30 a.m., Church of the Nazarene, Jamestown.

Burial: at a later date.

Memorials: in lieu of flowers, to Life Change Camp, 351 NE 831 Road, Clinton, MO 64735.
