Anyone here have one? Are there any internet security issues involved with playing online that would be more of a risk than just logging onto the internet?
My kid wants one to play CoD or something with his buddies. Thanks in advance! TC |

You can also set privacy setting to keep him from talking to people not on his friends list iirc. How old is he? |

This will prevent connection issues related to NAT. |

This is a must, I cant tell you how many times i hear young kids playing right along with adults, and adult topics come up, and the kids all of a sudden start asking question they shouldnt be at that age and getting answers..... |

I cheat at networking though :) I use a Cisco ASA5505 router with a whole range DMZ'd for my game systems. Makes life easy. |

you will need to monitor. Lots of foul mouthed little fuckers who need a RL ass beating on that thing. I would not let my kid interact with them unless i personally knew who they were. i see you've played against me on CoD before. i make sailors blush. If your over the age of twelve then you dont count.... Im talking the little bastards that talk shit and need a RL ass whipping..

| You know whats funny about this? The crew of guys I play with online are mostly Canadian, though we have an awesome Texan and a dude from North Carolina in addition to me, and they are some of the most polite people you'll ever run into when we in public games / lobbies. As soon as we're private though, the lid comes off. |

Sounds like the group of guys that I run with, only that most of my friends online are middle road fellows in California and I'm one of the two awesome Texas 'dudes.' But yes, he should be ready to hear some of the foulest language the should never some out of the lips of a human being. Just make sure that he is old enough to understand the elements in the game and, please, follow the ESRB Rating system. Far too often I'd be playing online with my guys and we'd end up on a team together facing another team made up of, I kid you not, 8-14 year olds. |
