A friend of mine made an impulse buy yesterday. Of course, I told her that she was a dumbass for doing it and not calling me first, but the damage is already done. She just paid $16,000.00 for a used 2004 Jeep Wrangler. It only has 12,000 miles on it and it seems to be in good shape, but she's still a dumbass to pay that much for it. When she got home she looked up the book value and saw that it's $13,000, but I think she was being generous. It is a Wrangler 'Sport', but it has 225/75/R15 tires on it. I was under the impression that the 'Sport' model had 30 inch tires. Also, the tires are Dayton Timberline A/T's. While they look like decent tires, and they have little wear on them, I thought it odd as I thought they put Goodyear Wranglers on at the factory, and there is no way it should have needed new tires at only 12K miles. I checked the spare and it was a Goodyear Wranger in 225/75/R15 like the rest of them so maybe I was wrong on the tire size. Is there a possibility that the 'Sport' sticker is BS and it was really a Wrangler X that she bought? -K |

Quoted: Sounds like someone swapped the tires/wheels from an SE(4 banger) model on the Sport. Yeah, I had that thought too. She also said that it seems that she's going slower than what the speedo said, so that would make sense. I told her to time herself at 60mph with the mile markers on the highway to check that. But the fact that her spare, which is also the same size, appears to be original would cast doubt on that unless the seller switched all 5. It was also a private sale, not a dealer sale. -K |

Maybe the previous owner had after market wheels and swapped them before selling.
How bout this Jeep purchase: A friend's gf goes to the Jeep dealer alone and buys a brand new one with a manual, problem is she's never driven a 5 speed, had to call a friend to drive her home.

Sports have both 225s and 235s on them, the 30 inchers came with the Boobiecon.
There are X's that have more options than my Sport. 06' Sport. Smokers Pkg(lighter and ashtray) 235 Goodyear Wranglers on 15' steel wheels Boom Speaker in center console(think that came with Sport Pkg) Tow hooks. Tinted rear and side windows on top(part of Sport Pkg) I have vinyl seats from an SE,along with the half doors. She should have full doors too. Check under Jeep for rear end ratio(some....like mine, got stupid 3.07s) |
