I stopped at a gas station/Food Mart today to get a cup of coffee and had an exchange that made my blood boil.
I got talking to the guy who claimed to own the store as he was brewing a fresh pot of coffee. I'm not sure why the guy decided to tell me this story as it really had no relevance to what we were BSing about. He said "I was in the Army and they wanted me to go to Iraq. I said no way, I'm not going to kill my own people?" I asked if he was Iraqi. He said "No, but I'm a Muslim." "They could send me to Korea or somewhere else, but there was no way I was going to Iraq or Afghanistan." I said "Well you don't really get to pick where you go". He said "They told me if I don't go, they will put me in jail." He went on, "I will go to jail for the rest of my life before I will kill my own people" I said "Your own people?" 
I shit you not, he said "My Muslim brothers in Iraq." I said "You signed up for the US military, that makes Americans your people." I DOUBLE SHIT YOU NOT, he said "It's really hard, you know? Remember what happened in Texas?" I said "Fort Hood?" He said "Yeah." Now I was really pissed. I said "You would shoot Americans before you would fight in Iraq?!?!?" 
He said "no no no no, but I don't go to kill my own people..." I said "Well maybe you should move there a live amongst your "own people"." I left the coffee on the counter and walked out. After I left, I wished I had exploded on this guy. I've been red-assed about this since it happened this morning.
For any of you folks in Groton, CT near the Sub Base (of all places), do not go to Cory's Food Mart on Rt 12 near I-95. I know, cool story bro, but I had to get it off my chest. I can not believe we have assholes like this in our military. Or our country for that matter... First, I was in Times Square with my wife and kids just before the guy tried to blow up his SUV, now I meet this guy... Muslims are really on my shit list lately... |

You should have told him if the US Army thought like him, then we would be killing ALL the muslims instead of just the ones at war with us.
I hope his ass rots in jail. ETA: oh yea and IBTL. Muslim threads always end in a lock. ETA: I started that policy a while ago. It's not personal it's just business. |
