Tomorrow morning is going to be my first day of college. I start at the Old Dominion University at 0800. I've done Navy PACE courses on deployment, but tomorrow is the real deal. I've not sat in a actual class room since May 1993.
wish me luck.. |

Good luck. ODU is a good school. I have heard that the campus security has been a question in the past.
Focus on the studies, not the pie. You'll get used to the weird looks you get from undergrads. Anyone over 25 is a foreign body to them. Their prob, not yours. ETA: make sure you find out what the bureaucratic demands are regarding registering, dropping, and changing classes. Admins can be real jerks in those arenas. Also ask around about where to buy books, software, whatever. Don't just assume the bookstore is the go to place. And dress down, you may have to form a lab group or something and don't want to be stigmatized as the 'uptight military dude' or whatever. This just keeps your options open. Being proud of your service is great but in some circles it can be seen as a negative. |
