I realize this is probably the easiest thing in the world to fix but - how do I make it so that when click on a topic it pops up in full size rather than the midget box I currently get? I've looked through all my settings and can't figure it out.

Thanks in advance

I don't suppose you know how to post a pic of what your screen looks like?

Does each post come up in its own window?

Have you tried to resize the window?

Top right - do you see a box with a line a box within a box and an x in a box? Hit the middle button and then close out IE. Shoud reopen in full size.

Ha - you are asking a guy that can't figure out how to fix his pop up box if he can post a pic of his screen.

If I was at work I would use the nifty screen shot program we have - on this computer I don't have a friggin' clue.

That is exactly what the top right of my screen looks like. Let me walk you through what is going on:

I see a post I want to click on and then I click on it. A seperate box opens up that contains the post I wanted to read. The problem is the box is "minimized", I have to maximize the box to read the whole post.

Does that make sense?

To take a screenshot just hit the "prt sc" key on your keyboard. Then open up paint and hit Ctrl + V. Then save the file.

No shit - I told you in the OP I was a friggin computer idiot

Normally, after I maximize something 1 time it will continue to open in the "maximized" state. No so with this shit.

Hit the printscreen key on your keyboard.

ETA: Are you hitting the left mouse button with the middle one held down?

Two things.......First line up the mouse with all of the two or four edges of the box stopping when you see a small line with a left and right arrow and left click on the line when in that position drag each side out to the edges then it remembers next time.Another way is to right click in the title bar not the three boxes and left click maximize

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER

You realized you were dealing with an incompetent, dumbed down your instructions to a level you believed said incompetent would understand, and then delivered an answer full of win.

Excellent. Thank you!

Or press the button with a picture of a square in the upper right corner of the window. That will fill your screen with that window.

Then, instead of hitting X, choose File, Close (or Exit, or whatever)

It should save your preference....

Sure does, but run tabbed instead. Everytime you open a new thread it puts it in a new tab in the current window. Mucho Cleanero. Tools > Internet Options > General > Tabs

This is an important point.  Just hitting the X button won't necessarily save the window size.
