Mil spec tube, not mine and not my pic.

Can it be repaired and if so how?

ETA: Is this tube, a buffer spring and a heavy buffer worth a $30 mag?

Just slap some Super Putty on it.  It will be ok.

How many tubes are not marred?

Your internet photography sucks... need a much better photo.

Can't tell what is wrong other than a few shiny threads.  If that is all that's wrong, a little Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black will fix it.

Like I said, not my pic.

..and the threads are damaged, there was a sling plate key that was loctited to the castle nut and it turned when the tube was being removed damaging the threads about 1/4"

Just have the threads chased by a local shop.

Just cut .25" off the front end, make a new "v notch" at the bottom and you're good-to-go...it looks mostly cosmetic anyway.

OK, run a die on the threads, clean them up a bit.  Degreaase.  Touch up the shiny spots with a Q-tip dipped in the Birchwood Casey Aluminum black.

Reassemble with two drops of Blue Locktite.

Done.
