Somehow I got rid of the toolbar-aero-dock thingy that was at 12 o'clock top dead center of the desktop
and I can't figure how to get it back! I still have the weather gadget though. A little help....

While I still had it I called Dell tech support to complain about not being able to find Windows Media Center.
I do have Windows Media Player that plays DVD's but who knew that there's no WMC! He said that I have
to download it from MicroSoft and I have Power DVD to play stuff anyway. Except that when I play a CD
I get some other app. that's just not as easy as WMC 9, or 10 was.

Oh and BTW, I go to M.S. and can't find a version of WMC to download for Windows 7. They still got it
for XP and Vista though.

so... umm what?

Never had any sort of dock with my Win 7... don't know what that is.

Turning off the widgets is easy. Just go to control panel and poke around until you find what you need.  This is what us computer experts do.

Different versions of Win 7 are designed for different uses.  Some come with the idiot proof media stuff.  Some don't.  Apparently you bought the one that doesn't.

No the widgits [1 that I have] are fine. What I lost, what disafuckenpeared was some kind of toolbar that had big icons for garbage, internet, video, email, etc.
It was "aero" I guess in that when you opened a page it would fade underneath it, (the new page). Am I making any sense? Win 7 Ultimate.
What I'm trying to say is I want it back and can't find it.

You are probably looking for the Media Center gadget. I'm not at work, but I think you can find it from display properties (alt click on desktop) or in control panels display.

well I've never seen any sort of dock thing... but I found a gadget called media center.

control panel -> appearance and personalization -> desktop gadgets - add gadgets to the desktop.  media center should be on the menu that comes up.

Well, the dock is all of about useless, but mine comes back every time I restart it. I need to figure out how to turn it off.

I hate that dock, it is useless and it takes up my screen real-estate.

Fuckme! It's a Dell app not a Win7 app! I found it thanks.

Now, any ideas as to what happened to Windows Media Center? [for W7].

I kind of like it but I'm also getting used to a new HD widescreen 1920x1080 23" Dell flatpanel.

I'm not finding Windows Media Center as a gadget and what I found out earlier today is that it's not on my computer.
I do have "Windows Media Player" that plays DVD's. So does anyone else actually have WM Center on their W7 machine.

on that menu there should be an option to get more gadgets online.  You may be able to download it through that.

If I see it as a gadget that must mean I have it... which means it should be available for download.

I should inform you that if you have Windows 7 Starter edition that you do not have Windows Media Center, and you can't Download it. You would have to upgrade to at least Home Premium edition. Features compared here.

I think (not 100% sure) that if you have an edition that included Media Center it would be installed already. If you do have Home Premium or above and it is not showing up you may have to go to the "Programs" console in the Control Panel. Click on "Turn Windows Features on or off". find "Media Features" in the list and expand it. Check "Windows Media Center"

Cheers!
