So this week I was able to catch a ball game at Pac Bell Park or whatever they call it now since I don't really pay attention to those things. ![]() I met up with some lady friends who are "Big City" career women So after the game we hit a few of the "Big City" clubs and "Big City" bars. During which we had a conversation about mutual friends of ours. I know the one girl I was trying to get pie from that night has been having a on and off again fling with this one friend of ours. Then they straight up asked me "Are these guys(our mutual friends) really into guns or something?" and their faces looked exactly like this smiley––-> they were referring to both of my friends' Facebook pages which have lots of photos of them posing with all kinds of pistols, AKs and EBRs. I for one wont violate OPSEC/PERSEC and pose in such photos. ![]() So I just answered them by saying "Hey I like guns as much as the next guy but I told them both they need to 'tone it down' when it comes to the gun thing. They are a little over the top with the gun stuff and do come off as radicals. Which of course they are not. We are entering our early 30's after all." These ladies nodded their heads in agreement to my statement. Anyways now that I think about it... did I just betray my friends FYI no pics but I really wish you guys could see this one girl's butt. ![]() |

Quoted: Did you really tell them to tone it down? Or were you just trying to make yourself look good? I mentioned it to them once to be careful about posting pics with guns on Facebook since people can kind of freak out over it. They both just kind of brushed off my advice and I never brought it up again. |

So you're trying to sleep with a girl your friend is hooking up with, and then presumably reinforce (or establish) their misguided opinion that representing your hobbies and interests in a semipublic forum gives rise to a characterization of extremists who should tone it down? Regardless of the caveats you may have thought you included, coming from where they were coming from, you know the hearing is selective. You BF'd, and stoked the anti-gun fire, in the name of ass that it doesn't sound like you got. California... ![]() |

Never be ashamed of owning firearms. My opinion, is that being secretive about owning firearms, helps perpetuate the anti-gun attitude many people have, and in the long run does more harm than good. When you act defensive, or secretive about the topic of guns, I think it makes the average person see guns as, "shady" and elevate them to something other than just a regular inanimate object. I think we should take every opportunity to show non-gun owners that normal people own guns, especially "assault weapons". I wouldn't have any problem telling people I collect cars, so I don't see why I should hesitate to tell anyone I collect guns. Of course, it's your own prerogative how much, if at all, you want to tell people about your guns. I treat it just like any other hobby. I do not hide the fact at all that I own firearms, and have no qualms telling people about it if the subject ever comes. I think if more gun owners had this attitude, the public perception of firearms would be a lot different, and maybe they wouldn't believe everything the media says about guns. |
