For the love of all that is holy, floss!

I suspect DrSaLee, among others, may have no need of this bulletin, but I know I sure could have used it earlier in my life.
On the plus side, I apparently wasn't quite at the bone graft needing stage, but on the down side, it's still frigging periodontitis, and the treatment is not quite as fun as it sounds when you read about it.
My head feels like I've been beaten by Mike Tyson, and my mouth looks like I got shot in the face with a load of birdshot by Dick Cheney.  I'm sure it will feel like it soon enough, to boot.

I went through a deep root cleaning about six years ago, most unpleasant.
Needless to say, I floss everyday and brush 'em twice a day whether they need it or not!

BALK if they try to move you into agreeing to a deep root paring.
My buddy had that done and within six months ALL of his teeth fell out on their own, sometimes two or three at a time if he was eating something chewy, so don't do that option.

Brush and floss twice a day since my early 30's...

I don't bother telling my niece and nephews about the dangers of using drugs.

I plead with them to floss.  I didn't floss forever, and when I got serious about dental care (after teeth started breaking and root canals started becoming commonplace) my periodontal charting was horrendous.

Seeing a dentist three times a year and flossing twice a day has made a HUGE difference.

Like they say, "Floss only the teeth you want to keep..."

I actually enjoy flossing.

Short story:

I was on my way to Cairo, Egypt and had eaten some Boyscout Popcorn before the flight. There was a partial kernel stuck in my molar that no matter how hard I picked I just couldn't get it out.

Well a stewardess came over to me and asked if something was wrong because I looked upset. I told her about my situation and she told me to wait a moment because she had some floss in her carry on.

I flossed in the restroom and made my way back to my seat. I had every intention of handing her the floss pack back but she was no where to be found. I was puzzled but also very tired so I went to sleep and laid the floss on my tray thinking she would take it.

I wake up from the ding of the "Fasten Seat Belt" warning, and notice it is still there but now the stewardesses are prepping for landing. I didn't see her so I picked up the pack and noticed there was a number on it.

I ended up calling the number and met her in a coffee shop (btw the coffee in Egypt is superb) and had a great time. We dated for 5 months but because of her job it just didn't work out.

TL;DR Met a cute stewardess that let me use her floss and we dated.

Never heard of root planing but I wonder if it is the same thing under a different name?
If it is, I will pray you don't say goodbye to your chompers in the next year or less.
ETA; chew slowly and stick with tender cuts of beef,,,,

Well, per the doc, doing nothing would have spelled the end of my teeth before too many more years––-he says after this is all done I should keep these for the rest of my life, minus one he has some worries about.

BTDT.  I had a dental hygienist tell me I need a deep root cleaning not once, but twice.  She was a hot blond, but quite a sadist.  After two two of these I switched dentists and was told I do a fine job of flossing (I didn't change anything.)  and have never had another one.  I am convinced she enjoyed dishing out pain to men.  F-cking bitch cost me a lot of money too for the cleanings.

I had root planing done about 9 or so years ago.. wasn't so bad.

I have to admit I don't floss.. but I DO use a water pick and brush at the VERY least once a day.. sometimes twice.

Teeth are still in there and working.
