A clear violation of the rules merits a click of the report button.
Getting mad because someone is an idiot does not call for a report. Stop that. Don't abuse the system. We're happy to help - we're happy to police the forum. We are not happy to be referees in your disputes. Don't click it when you're angry. |

Plenty of members can ruin your day. That doesn't mean we should report them and hope for a ban. None of us will get along with everyone. That's the way it is.
I have fun friends who are liberals and conservatives. I am VERY happy to have them as members of this website. |

the only time i ever hit report other than accident was that time 82nd posted his pics and my wife saw them and got all blushy and squishy, and what was the outcome?!?!
he banned every god damned one of us! so no report button! he bans ed senior and the site crashes! NO REPORT BUTTON!! |

I've used it twice, I think. Both times because it was some asshole stating he wished California would sink into the ocean and everyone dies.
I can handle the "falls into the ocean" jokes or "the big one will make it fall into the ocean" or "there will be beach front property in Arizona" jokes, etc. Those don't bother me and I often laugh at them myself. But when someone specifically states he hopes everyone in my state dies, I report them just to get the paper started on them. In my 10 years here I have never wished the entire population of an American state dead. Not even those obnoxious, loud-mouthed Texicans. It takes a special kind of fucked up, sociopath personality to wish an entire state of your own people dead. ![]() |

Report button doesn't work for me, I clicked it for the "N" word once and the "W" word once..... I'm on satellite internet, so I usually have to submit several times to post. With report, it doesn't work no matter how many times I click it.
So no worries from me, I won't abuse it Submit try 2 Submit try 3 Submit try 4 |

Attacking or insulting a person in an effort to elicit a negative response. You have a right to disagree, but please do so in a respectful manner.
There is one poster who has a nasty habit of tossing the word Nazi into his disagreements with people. He's very good at doing it in an indirect manner, but it's a smear all the same. He does it all the time and continues to get away with it. Should I even bother reporting him or not? Thank you. |

My problem with the report button is when you accidentally click on it, you can't get out of it without actually going through with it.
Just reported myself for that post. It's the pop-up that doesn't let you go back or X out of it or do anything but state a reason you're reporting that post. You're stuck until you click accept. Cancel doesn't do anything.

Wouldn't be needed if the mods and site staff enforced the CoC evenly and consistently. There is one poster who has a nasty habit of tossing the word Nazi into ..And this....his disagreements with people. He's very good at doing it in an indirect manner, but it's a smear all the same. He does it all the time and continues to get away with it. Should I even bother reporting him or not? Thank you. Hmmmmmm...Referring to the same person, I'll bet. One that no doubt is a reason for this sticky too.... |

I realize some people think we have super human abilities and are able to read every post in every thread in every forum but we cannot. And we do our best to be fair and consistent - but we are human. Don't expect miracles and don't whine because little johnny got away with calling you poopy head when you got your hand slapped. |

I'm more upset about the way they allow some members to change screennames even though there's supposedly a prohibition against it than any policing of COC.
The way some people (usually MFTs, most favored trolls) just suddenly resurrect themselves under completely new names is silly. |

I don't think I've every reported anybody. I'm not a Mod. I'm not discouraging the use of the report button, I'm discouraging hitting it when people have differences of opinion and want use us to settle their disputes. If someone ignores the rules and you report, we are grateful for your help - genuinely. If two people get into a heated debate, don't creatively interpret his writing and claim it's a violation. That happens a lot. |

If five of us see through a lie and deny a request, the sixth guy might be busy and simply approve it for time's sake. Again, we aren't perfect. |

Out of curiosity, regarding this rule:
6.) Attacking or insulting a person in an effort to elicit a negative response. You have a right to disagree, but please do so in a respectful manner. If the insult is not an attempt to elicit a negative response, but is merely a statement of fact, is that still a problem? |

..........by accident.
