I got drug into facebook because of my wife. I rarely use the stupid account and frankly I think I'm going to close it. I happened to just check and see what was going on this morning as things were slow at work and ran across this little tidbit from a person I went to school with. They've been out of work for, I'm guessing nearly a year and they live in Florida.
what does the unemployment extension obama signed last nite mean 4 me? I've exhausted all my tier 4 benefits will i get more? any1 know? any1???

ASSHATS HOW LONG WILL YOU LET Republicans play games with the lives of unemployed Americans???? Time to remove some 'friends' before I close the account I think. ETA: I nearly forgot. I also saw a post from this same person about 8-10 months ago asking if anyone had some jobs leads in the area as they were looking for a 45-50k salary. 
Update So i removed this person from my friend list shortly after posting this because I honestly was curious if this would have any effect on them before I shut down this account. So today I check it and they've sent me a friend request! This person has around 400+ friends but they notice I'm not on their friend list anymore? Sounds to me like they've got too much time on their hands. No message was sent...just the friend request. Fuck 'em. It gets better though!! I looked around on LinkedIn and yes, they've got a profile set up there. Truly you cannot make this shit up. In their profile they indicate the type of work they're looking for...yes, they're holding out for a management position. Literally...management level position touting their "years of experience" and being stuck in a state that has a hurting economy. My god they are so out of touch with reality.

Cry, cry, cry, poor me I can't find a fancy job with my worthless paper college degree, so that means their are no jobs. No, it means that the fancy, 100k+ jobs doing nothing important are gone, and it's time to find a job that has real value to the real fucking world.
Last I checked unemployment and welfare were two different things. Now that some people who were previously productive have gotten a taste of the couch fat ass life, they don't want to go back to work. 6 months should be fucking it, after that go see the food stamp lady because you're fucking lazy. |

The "humane" thing to do would be to stop the benefits when they're supposed to. My Nephews mother has been on unemployment for over a year now. She does not bother to look for work, she just sleeps all day and stays up all night, drinking rot gut whiskey and playing on facebook and running around with losers while her son fends for himself.

You are going to find assholes no matter where you go, in the real world, or on the net. There are some assholes here in ARFCOM just like anywhere else.
Do what I did, un-friend these folks on facebook, and if they do not notice, they are dumb asses. If they do notice and send you a message to ask you why, unleash the fury with caps lock. I went through my friends and un-friended any of them who had "liberal" as their political views, or that praised 0bama. Is that petty of me? Damn right, but screw them and their socialist messiah. |

Why? Because it paid. |

Facebook is just another outlet for narcissists to display themselves. I enjoyed reconnecting with a few of my old HS friends and staying in touch with distant family. HOWEVER there's some on there who are plain ole' narcissists. "Look at me!" "I'm special!"
I'm weening myself off there and have reduced things to a minimum. |

Why? Because it paid. So after a year he found another high paying job in his field? Sounds to me like his degree was far from "worthless paper". And I imagine that he would argue that his job using his degree was more important than the department store job. And don't try and tell me "it's important because it's a science degree". I've seen plenty of scientists and engineers who would go nowhere if it weren't for a talented person with a liberal arts degree marketing their work, doing pr, selling to the customers, or writing literature about it that a non engineer could understand.
