JESUS CHRIST! I cannot stand them!

No this isnt a rant....

I live in eastern PA, and every single gun shop is geared towards fudds. Every gun owner around here is a fudd, but myself.

I was showing my father a precision AR upper receiver today and he was amazed at what i wanted to pay for it, and he told me how he would immediately buy a mini-14 if he had the cash i wanted to spend on just an upper receiver, he just cannot see the beauty of having a precision rifle. He and my grandfather have fallen in love with a mini-14 that a relative let them borrow.

The biggest thing that urks me is how they use a BSA or $50 Bushnell and say how "amazing" it looks and how they love them on the min-i14 they were using. They question why i would even wont a PA arms M3 clone for $70, let alone a $400 aimpoint.

Fudds just dont understand. Dont get me wrong, every gun owner is my friend, but not all friends are fun to hang around with!

Anyone else's area infested with them?

I grew up in PA.  Hunting laws there (specifically the ban on semi-auto rifles) make it a breeding ground for Fudds.  My father isn't a Fudd but my uncle might be.

Gun shops will stock what sells - and in PA, autoloaders don't sell.

I HATE fudds too.

I have no problem with guys that like more classical style rifles. Or guys that just like to have guns for hunting or bird shooting.

A "Fudd" is someone whom will look down upon you for owning and liking "black/military-style rifles", and try to give away your rights to shoot them, if only to keep their "bird/hunting guns". I fight just as hard for their right to own hunting and bird guns, as I do my right to own evil black rifles and handguns.

If the Fudds fought for us as hard as we fight for them, we would NOT have this problem of the liberals incrementally trying to get rid of ALL guns.

See you guys dont know what im talking about.

Every gun shop you go in up here only has hunting shotguns, and rifles set up for hunting. Thats it, and every gun owner up here is fine with it and has no clue as to what else is out there, and just sit there and drool over basically nothing.

Thats how  everyone around here is but they like handguns, they all dont see the need for rifles such as AR's and AK's.

When i tell them i own an AR, and AK and want a precision rifle their response is "You can own that", even though they have a safe full of rifles and shotguns.

Yes, my area is 95% fucking INFECTED with two demographics according to what my local shops offer:

A>  Good ol' boys that buy low to mid range hunting rifles in odd calibers, willing to pay double MSRP.

B>  Ghetto trash that buys Hi-Points, Lorcins, etc. also willing to pay double MSRP.

Sure, they have a few EBRs but they're only for display apparently.  I don't know who the fuck buys a DPMS Sportical for $1200.  But there it is...

I overpay for everything locally.  Transfers?  forget about it.

Only dealer I've found to do them I have to listen to bitching and moaning about taking $30 to make a fucking phone call.

Gun hell... FML.

Well... I'm in Berks County and recognize the NEED for a Fudd Shop... so I'm opening one. Of course I will have a bunch of cool evil black rifle stuff too.

One thing I WON'T be keeping in stock... is cheap gangbanger crime guns.

Keep in mind... PA is chock-full of hunters and sportsmen... so it would be foolish for a gun shop not to carry hunting supplies and deer/turkey guns.

I will try and go a step further by getting some archery and fishing stuff in the store too...

I'm originally from Lebanon County, so I know how it is, especially when it comes to owning EBRs in the Commonwealth.

Heres a cool story about this:
Night I bought my first AR I was home in PA on leave, I had just finished filling out the 4473 for my SP1 and was grabbing about two 100rd boxes of Black Hills 55gr FMJs. Anyway while this is going on, this older guy in his mid-60s says to me, how he has no use what so ever for "Military Guns or Machine guns." I explain to him that the 1978 Colt SP1 that I have just bought is semi-auto only and then ask him what kind of rifle he hunts with.

His repsones: a German Mauser in 8mm

after the FUDD says that, everyone in the shops erupts with laughter exept him, who clearly didn't understand that he in fact had a military gun. I then explained to him that no military had EVER used the Colt SP1

to the OP, stop into Enck's Gun Barn near Kleinfeltersville in Lebanon County. Bob has a very good selection of damn near everything: handguns, EBRs, C&Rs, cowboy guns, hunting rifles, Black powder stuff, reloading, etc. He's also my Grandpa

I guess I am lucky.  We only have one true Fudd around here.

We USED to have a lot of people who'd tell you that they wouldn't own an EBR because they didn't like them.
Obama fixed that.  Now, all of these "classic" gun owners enjoy showing me their new AR.  The last one was a guy that practically told me I was an idiot for having such a firearm 2 years ago.  Last week, he came to my house to show me his.  I didn't gloat or remind him of his statements.  Instead, I helped him with the questions that he had, and invited him to shoot it at my range.  And he isn't the only one I've had do that.

Last year, our local gun shop had THREE AR's in it.  Last week, I saw about 15 ARs, a couple AKs, about 5 AR-10s, a LR-308, and a RRA 308.

It is a sign of the times when the "classic" sportsman NOW sees the need to have an AR.  And it is great when you see one fall in love with the platform.

Oh, our one Fudd?

He is also our resident Democrat and Obama voter.  He doesn't  call attention to himself much anymore.

That is how I got lured into EBRs. I got a RRA Predator Pursuit for hunting and liked it so much that I am in the process of building others (and not just for hunting). The key is to introduce people to the platform and you may be surprised. If a person has a natural affinity for fine hunting shotguns, its not a big jump to fine precision ARs.

I took my Fudd gun, a highly modified, Tier .05, 30-06 03A3 to the range yesterday.  One guy there, looked like a Fudd, put five shots through the same hole at 100 yards, using hand loads, worked-up by a friend who looks like a Fudd and will happily reload anything for anyone.  I probably look like a Fudd, but had on my BFL hat.

Another Fudd looking guy had a Sharps.  Seen him there before with AK's, M-1's, M-14's, he shows up with all kinds of wild stuff.

Encourage them to get the mini's if that is what they like.

My son and I both bought mini's and had so much fun with them that we both had AR's within a year.  Now the minis never get out and the AR's have multipied

I will admit that sometimes I cringe when a friend ask me about a gun he is thinking about buying. But if it is not a total piece of junk and in his price range, I encourage them to go for it.

This pretend war with the "fudds" is totally absurd.

Some of you guys have been huffing gunkote and it caused brain damage.

You're biologically incapable of understanding the fact that the gun sports encompass a wide range of people, from million dollar high end gun collectors, to once a year deer hunters.

Any person who is not a tacticool gear fag is automatically labelled a "fudd".

On arcom, "fudd" simply means anybody who's not obsessed with military style autoloaders.

Did it ever occur to you that a 30-30 winchester or marlin might actually be an excellent rifle in its own way?  That a light, handly, inexpensive, high quality rifle is actually a good product selection for some people?

I own a colt 6920.  I like it. I also like my Remington 870 wingmaster.  How can that possibly be?
