| Damn, I love watching that show. Just came on chan 21 in DFW. |
| Saw an article that a greenhorn was arrested in Illinois for a robbery in (IIRC) Oregon. I think he was the one early the season before last who couldn't make up his mind to quit or stay, asnd finally on the way in to offload he said it would be his last trip, his brother was coming home from Iraq and wanted to spend time with him. |

Having been up there in the Bering Sea a couple of seasons, by watching the program, you get the feeling that it's nice and calm. Reality is that you get the living crap kicked out of you. I don't miss that AT ALL! The really fantastic shots are the ones from the camera boats that follow the crabbers. It's amazing more guys don't go overboard. |

Quoted: I'm wondering how much of Phil's final illness we'll see. The cameras were rolling when he went to the hospital a few years ago. He died during this year's Opy season. I'll bet cameras were there again. How much will the producers show us? I read an article stating that the cameras were rolling during his hospital stay this time around. He actually wanted them there. However there is not any word on what will be aired yet. Here is the cornelia marie website. Lots of info on there. http://www.corneliamarie.com/ |

I had the pleasure of seeing Sig and Edgar (and crew) leaving Pugeot Sound in person in the locks of Seattle on the Northwestern a few years ago (season 3 I think?) on their way to Alaska. There were a number of fans that were waving them on from shore and they were all waving back. I really liked and will miss Cap'n Phil and I know those guys loved him even more. Great great show. I hardly ever miss an episode. |

Great great show. I hardly ever miss an episode. Fixt. Also, the spousal unit and I like the show and watch it when it's on. She was just looking it up the other day to see when the new seaons started. Kind of a bummer to hear about Captain Phil, but unfortunately I can't say I didn't see it coming. The man simply did not do the right things (lit's not like I do the right things either, so I'm not preaching) especially after his razor thin escape. |

Was it that guy that was around 38 years old or close? Mough or I think his last name started with an "Mo" and he was on the Captain that had to have a Cup-O-Noodles for a spit cup before he left Port? ETA: Seen a few posts down which Greenhorn it was, that kid had the "Obama voter" attitude for sure |

They showed that episode last night. My daughter watches the show religiously, and she was upset to hear about Phil. Got to say he reminded me some of my father and grandfather as far as the blue collar ethic and get the job done attitude. I was sorry to hear about his death as well. |

I guess it is pretty obvious that I don't live near Seattle. I was there for my cousin's wedding and we just got lucky that day to see the Northwestern leaving Seattle. Total accident. My aunt and uncle have long lived there and I think they would probably be just as appalled at my spelling and rightfully so. Seriously, thanks for the fix! |

I dunno. It was interesting for like the first 2 seasons, then after that it all just blends together. Dudes throw pots over board, one of the various captains smokes, drinks coffee, and probably yells at someone.. They haul the pots back on board. They do it in Shitty weather, they do it in, kinda less shitty weather. lather rinse repeat.
I've ended up losing interest in it. |

I was told by a friend I trust that he has seen more cocaine and speed in Dutch Harbor than anywhere else in the world. I have no verification on this. -p. I wouldn't doubt it. People working 20 hour days? I'd be surprised if it wasn't rampant. And sometimes a lot longer than that doing monotonous work. Jonathon on the Time Bandit loves the powder, that's for sure. Sig probably pops speed. I don't know how else you smoke 5-6 packs in a 24 hour period. |

Was interesting to watch, wouldn't want to do it for a living, just got old after awhile. |

If you like the show, you should read Working on the Edge by Spike Walker, who worked on crab boats when the prices were at their peak.It came out in the 90's and I'm pretty sure was one of the inspirations to do the show.As far as drugs go: guys who're working exceptionally hard 20 hour days on end simply can't do it on willpower and galley cookin' alone.
