Cobra, The Decepticons, and Skeletor's crew were way cooler looking than their counterparts. |

A big cardboard box. It was used to ship florida oranges which were a gift from one of my dad's friends every Christmas. I emptied it out, drew some wheels and stuff on the box, cut out a hole on the bottom of the box and it was an instant car.
Oh great toy of my childhood, hmmm... I had those green army men and a tank. |

Legos
He-Man action figures Tonka Trucks...not the crap they have now, the all metal, working, heavy shit...I remember digging a hole in my yard with the backhoe, then loading the dump truck and pushing it across the yard to dump it bringing back memories now lol |

God I loved those... |
|
any of the 80's GI-JOEs toys.
The Hovercraft was my favorite. It wasn't until years later that I discovered spray foam which I could have used to fill the 'tube' and stop the thing from sinking after a tiny little wave. |
|
wood burning craft set. Hot iron rod you used to score wood plaques.
Lead Soldier Maker....a pot you heated lead and pored into a mold to make lead soldiers which you could then paint. .22 Marlin, still have it in the back of the safe, still shoots darn well. black cat firecrackers....I had a pillow case full. Homemade Carbide cannon..... WTF!! what kind of parents would let a kid have all this shit!!!!!!! The times sure have changed. |

Legos. My sons are adding to the collection. The new ones work with the ones that are nearly 40 years old. What a great toy!
I had one of those pneumatic bazookas. I also loved the pump-up water rockets. When we had epic battles in the neighborhood we used those as bazookas too. Dangerous...yet fun as hell. And the wind up Evil Knievel motorcycle was bad ass. You could also get the accessory hauler tuck with ramp. Which was the end all to be all when I was a kid.
Those water rockets were the f**kin spit. Untill my dad actually saw me launch it. Holy s**t you should have seen how big his eyes got He gave me a VERY stern warning about not puting my face over that thing when launching. LOL even as a kid I wasn't THAT stupid. Then next Christmas I got a Crossman 760 pump BB gun |

How about Spinjas?

Of all the toys I ever had, I would have to say that my GT Mach One bicycle was the one that was used the most, by far, except maybe for my library card.
When I was little there were tons of them, the Rubber Ducky M16 and AK47 that my brother and I had (they came from a unit that was deactivating, and the DRMO guy said to toss them, they didn't get tossed). I remember a Chemistry set that I got a lot of miles out of, it started getting fun when I used up all the little bottles of chemicals it came with and found other sources. |

What was the R/C car that had the claws inside the tires? They would come out when you needed extra traction.

That thing would knock over a plastic army man from ten feet away. My mother hated the sound it made. You could also launch sticks and pencils with it. |

My favourite toy when I was a kid was my Action Man Field Howitzer - It hooked up to the jeep for towing, when you got to where you needed to be you would unhook it and splay the legs. A 'bullet' was inserted into the casing (Spring loaded??) and then you opened the breech, loaded the round, closed the breech and pulled the lanyard. The bullet would shoot out (and hopefully recovered!)..
My dad brought me that one year when he came home from working off-shore. My brother got the jeep. I think I got the better end of the deal. ETA: I also had a kind of "Big Wheel" knock off - it was green (not the green machine), and had a gear selector on the front column... must have been a belt drive or something in it... Anyone know what I'm referring to? I can't find anything on google... my google-fu is weak today. |

Chemistry sets with mercury, cyanide, and the ingredients to make explosives. Oh hell yes and refills for the better kits, or a new kit for Birthday and Christmas. Oh and the manuals had the formulas for the good stuff, just never enough of the chemicals. But we also had guns, real ones were for game getting and BB guns were toys, Hell we even took our BB guns to school fo show and tell if we had a cool one. I had the one with the interchangeable front and rear sights (crossman I think). |

I still have one of those in it's box. |

http://www.brianstoys.com/store/images/products/MOTU/Vintage/VehiclesAndPlaysets/Castle_Grayskull_AFA_70.jpg Let's not forget He-Man and the Masters of the Universe! That thing was the SHIT. Dad took me to some womans house to buy me one of those things, I think he was banging her or something. I think it's still in my parents basement somewhere. Loved those Balsa wood planes too. (yeah this is an edit, the guy below me reminded me) I got a .22 when I was 6 so that definitely ranked up there (one of the Norinco clones of the Browning 22 with bottom ejection, still have it in the safe) |

Lincoln logs for sure..
Chemistry Set.. Air rifle.. Tinker Toys.. Cap guns... Balsa wood planes... they were some good times... |

Nintendo.
I was raised in the pussy generation where few kids were given a .22 at age 7. I got one from my dad at age 10, just before my parents split up. Remington Fieldmaster...I love that rifle. |

My first BB gun (age 9), graduated to a Crosman 760 (age 10), would spend my allowance on a scope, and pellets. Much like today, only nowadays, any extra scratch goes to .40 and .223. Heh, I still have my first BB gun...Smith and Wesson M59 replica. Got it after I got my first rifle. |
