Halp - I have approx $500ish to spend.

I have a .22 supressor coming soon and want a long gun host for it as well as my P22.  Was thinking a 10/22 (since I have a 77/22 and have mags for it), and get a TB barrel.

I also want another G19.  I found an OD one, not sure why I want an OD one, just seem kinda cool to me.  Its $500 with a few hi cap mags and a 33rd.  great shape.

What would you do?

I'd get the 10/22.

1. Another supressor host.
2. Cheaper to shoot.
3. You've already got a G19.
4. If you don't own a .22LR rifle you are a filthy fucking communist.

My experience is that 10/22's are quite loud with a suppressor. The bolt blows back and the noise escapes at the breach. It's certainly "earplugs required" noisy. You can hold the bolt forward with your hand and it's quiet. However, the gun is difficult to aim when operated with one hand holding the bolt.

The bolt action Ruger is a far better rifle to suppress.

Thanks for that info.  I may have to look into another host.
Initially I thought of threading the barrel on my 77/22, but that was my first ever .22 given to me by my dad and dont know that I want to alter it, or trust it to a gunsmith.  Its a little spendy as well.
I may have to shop for a cheaper .22 and just have it threaded.

Definitely the 10/22, but get the 77/22 threaded, too. A suppressed bolt .22lr is something very special. What can did you settle on?

Anything over about 4.5-5" will make your typical bulk pack high velocity stuff supersonic. The 10/22 needs subsonic ammo to be good and quiet. I use CCI Standard Velocity; it's very consistent, accurate stuff. Remington Subsonic will actually go supersonic about once every ten rounds or so out of my 16" 10/22. A supersonic crack is almost as loud as the report of an unsuppressed .22lr rifle so you can't really tell much difference. The design of the suppressor will have a lot to do with your perception of the sound level as will temperature, humidity, altitude, barrel length, ammo type, type of action, etc, etc. That said, my 10/22 with a 16" barrel, CCI Standard Velocity and a Gemtech Outback II is stupid quiet. It is true that the action makes some noise. It may also be true that you get some port noise, but honestly all I hear is the action cycling and the bullet impacting. It is significantly quieter when I hold the bolt closed. People often have unrealistic expectations about how quiet a suppressor should make a gun. A bolt or lever will be quieter but you're not going to be wearing hearing protection on a suppressed 10/22 unless you have a really shitty suppressor. Hell, I don't usually wear ears when I'm shooting unsuppressed .22lr from a rifle, though I know I should. If you don't wear ears when you check the chamber or load your firearm, you won't be wearing ears while shooting a 10/22 with a decent can and subsonic ammo.

Then again, maybe you should get a 96/22. Stupid quiet, faster than a bolt, same mags and cheap enough you shouldn't mind threading it.

Good info, thanks

I got the Tac-65.  My first can, woohoo.
I have a LOT of federal bulk, and a handful of winchester bulk.  I have a brick of remmington subsonic ammo - I shot a mag through my P22, and I'm not sure how subsonic it is?  from my understanding, subsonic usually doesnt cycle the action in a gun requiring high velocity ammo.  Mine cycled all 10 rds.  It says on the box 1050fps.

My P-22 eats anything. High velocity will stay subsonic in your P-22, though so you won't need to bother with subsonics. I can hear just a slight difference between the two when I shoot them side by side in the same mag. I shoot exclusively HV bulk pack through the P-22.
