My nephew has an airsoft shotgun replica(Mossberg M590). It is clear plastic and has a switch on the side that reads "Hop-Normal." Does anyone know what this does? I've flipped it and can't really tell any difference. My brother threw away the owner's manual when he bought it. Thanks, jason

Hop-up refers to the spin put on the BB, generally more hop-up makes it spin in a way so that the BBs rise upward.

Never seen an airsoft in my life but according to google it puts backspin on the airsoft bb making the trajectory longer and flatter.

And unless you buy a VERY expensive airsoft gun, the ones that advertise this are full of crap. And it doesn't always work.

We use them at work for low vis training. If I remember correctly it has something to do with adjusting for longer range shots or shorter range. If you dial it all the way to one direction, it should go straight then dive off quickly, dial it the other way and the round will drift up and down more but travel farther.
Im guessing there are some who know more about this.

I don't think it does anything on this one. Thanks
