Not sure if you are asking so you know how much to buy or how much to put in. Haynes manual says to fill until level with the filler plug hole. No indication of how many quarts that would be.

But thanks for reminding me I need to do this as well...

Drain from the bottom plug (or the lowest plug)

Install and torque the bottom plug

Remove upper plug.

Fill til it overflows.

Install and torque the upper plug.

DONE!

Thanks.  If the truck is jacked up a few inches in the rear, do I need to move it to lvl ground before I can fill it correctly?

ETA: this is mainly why I asked...I filled it til full with the back about 4 inches off the ground.

Yes, it should be on level ground...you can overfill them, which is not a good thing.

They had the right answer.

I know it takes about 5 pints to get me properly lubricated.
