Good place to buy guns or not?
Local paper had an Ad for one this Saturday. Mostly fudd guns, but they have a nice looking Springfield 1911 with three mags. Wondering if I would be wasting my time at the auction. Have no idea if you would be able to get something for a steal or not. |

I figured someone would eventually point that out...1 minute was about 9 minutes faster than my guess.

I have been to 1 police auction and there were no guns. However, people were getting crown vic interceptors for a good deal (all were around 100,000 miles). I didn't find out until later but same cars were going for $1000.00 more on e-bay.
I could have bought an old snow plow/dump truck for $2200

Our local PD and SO have one every couple of months it seems. They list all the cars/equipment/guns in the paper. It says that they can decline or refuse any offer so I guess it depends on who you are and what not.
They had a couple FNH self loading shotguns a few months ago. They actually had them listed but I'm curious as to if they stuck them in the armory or not
I might make the trip down there this Saturday and take a few hundred with me and see if I can score that SA 1911... |
| Our sheriff's department does sealed bids on them by lot#. That way they basically insure that I gun shop gets them and not individuals. Kind of sucks for us but it saves them a lot of hassle and aggrevation and makes them PC to general public so I really can't blame them for doing it. |

| The one I went to was so-so. Bought a like new GP100 6" stainless with target sights for $400, buddy I went with bought an absolutely pristine Yugo SKS for $180 (when good/vg Yugos were selling for $220ish). Most people were paying at or near retail for some reason. Snickered when one guy bought a beat to hell Hi-Point carbine with a bolt on bayonet lug for $260. |
