Hey guys,
I've been having a problem with an older game.
I've been playing Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance lately, and after a short break of not playing it; it will not run.

So I did what any person with limited computer knowledge did. Uninstalled it and reinstalled.
No dice.

It still does the same thing. I click on the icon for the game. (Did it from the menu and desktop) and it goes to a black screen.
My laptop screen flickers and it starts to 'go.' It goes to a full black screen, the game cursor pops up (I can't move it) and I hear the audio from the opening movie.

I rage and try to CTRL+ALT+DEL it. It pops up in the fact that I can wave my pointer around but I see no Control Panel. FUUUUU.

I checked to see if my drivers are updated and they are. I'm getting ready to shoot this dang thing.

Any ideas guys?

Are you running it on a newer OS?  Did you try compatability mode?

You might try and revert to an older graphics driver.

I'm running windows XP and I don't know what the hell compatibility mode is.

@FueledByGuinness: Thats the funny thing right? My laptop is aging (an early Sony Vaio) and the drivers on it haven't been updated in ages. I checked the drivers 'cause I know thats what a few people have told me to do.
