So I'd planned on spending it on a DelTon 16" Mid kit to go with my RRA lower - an AR carbine is really all thats missing in my collection. Actually, the only carbine sized anything I have is a SOCOM II. Hanguns, rifles, shotguns I'm otherwise GTG with 2 of everything. That said, I'm lacking in optics (generally prefer irons), have maybe 1000-1500 rds of everything important, no reloading gear (but a butt-ton of brass).
So the question for the hive is: should I build the carbine, put an optic (Eotech) on the SOCOM and/or scope the FAL (Burris), beef up the ammo supply, or buy reloading gear? Thanks for the input! |

Optics will always be available, so you should make sure you've got your ammo situation covered first before you start on anything else.
Reloading is great, especially with your .308s and pistols. Depending on how fast you burn through ammo, you are going to end up spending most of the $550 on an okay progressive press, because loading a couple K of pistol/rifle ammo on a single stage is going to make you want to jump off a bridge. IMO you don't buy reloading equipment to save money on ammo, you do it for "fucking accurate" ammo and because you like to do it. The money/time parallel you'll spend with case prep & scavenging for components truly doesn't make sense for a lot of people. |
