OK, I need help with switch selection. I need a toggle switch that is three position - up and down are on and the middle is off. But, up has to make the connection for a set of wires that is completely different from the down wires. So up will control one set of actions and down will control another completely unrelated.

Here is a shitty MSPaint pic. You can tell by this pic that if I ever had a walmart thread I would be fucked because I suck at it.

You're looking for a Double Pole, Double Throw (DPDT) toggle switch.

it needs to spring back into the off position. And I don't know if DPDT will work. I've only used those to reverse polarity, I'm not sure how having the unrelated circuits would work.

dpdt will not work as I understand it.

I know they make auto return rocker switches, but ever since Radio Shack got sold i am not sure where you might find them

From the sound of it you're talking about a 4-pole 3-throw switch. I don't think they're very comon.  Can you live with two separate regular switches?  If not, then here's one:

Search for "4-pole  center off"

Let's say you have two lightbulbs and a switch.  If you throw the switch up it lights one lightbulb.  If you throw the switch down it lights the other bulb.  If the switch is in the center position neither bulb is lit.  Is this what you're looking for?

I reread the article on Wikipedia and it does look like a DPDT will not work.

The common term for that in the industry is "momentary".   But I doubt you'll find a 4PDT center-off momentary switch.

Yes, this looks like it.. As you can tell by the price it's not very common....

Thanks for the offer, but I may have to go with separate switches as I need like ten of them.

Two wires per position

If you need 10 of them, and you're willing to consider separate switches for each "pair", I would suggest using simple single pole push button switches.  I mean, I don't understand your application, but single pole push buttons are cheap, and simpler to activate than momentary rocker-type switches.

Do the different devices utilize different voltages?

If not, use the same power supply and switch the grounds.

What exactly are you trying to do? Sounds interesting.

Why not just switch one leg of the circuit instead of trying to switch both legs?

I would think that a 3 pole would be easier ..... and switch the negative side so there isnt power going thru the switch unless it is being used.

I JUST got to thinking about this one ....

Look up a convertible top switch for a late 70's Cadillac Eldorado ...... If I remember correctly they were a center off with momentary on up and down and were pretty heavy duty since they ran the motor for the top.

what you want (I think) is called: momentary-off-momentary double pole double throw (DPDT).  For 12 V purposes, a power window switch can work great.  If it plugs into a wall, don't use car parts.  Get something from Mouser.com, or digikey.com, or some other electronics store, rated at least to 125 VAC
