I just purchased a Toshiba laptop today. I had to call my Internet provider to find out which settings to use for it to work with my wireless modem that was supplied by my Internet provider. Everything works fine.

But my question is what happens when I take the computer elsewhere?  Like on vacation etc. Will it automatically find or sense service?  This is my first wireless and I'm clueless.

Mine automatically picks up whatever network is available and asks me if I want to connect to it?

Your laptop will detect any wireless networks but don't assume usage is free. I paid through the nose for a room at the Hilton in downtown Atlanta and the asshats still charged me a usage fee for their wireless.

What cell service do you have? You might want to start thinking about getting an aircard. I have one through sprint. If you travel alot or plan on taking your laptop with you often I highly recommend getting one. You connect any where you can get a cell signal.
