Havent been in school in a while. First paper in 5 years. 400 level course. Took me 8 hours with one 30 minute break. My brain is fried. It's margarita time.

Havent been in school in a long time, so cut me some slack as I'm rusty. Going back to college, Grand Canyon University (online as I live in Alaska), only needed a few classes to graduate with a bachelors. I'm also including all the research and reading (online and book) in the time given.

Heh... try studying for the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer/Administrator certifications if you want to cook your brain into a piece of charcoal.

I'm on book number 5, 70-294:  Planning, Implementing, and Maintaining Server 2003 Active Directory infrastructure.

411 questions, many of which have multiple correct answer, and some are simulation questions, spread over 739 pages of text.

I'm on pass number 3 through it..  First pass was a "highlight the major items in the questions and answers".  Second pass I finished yesterday was a "look at the highlighted stuff, and boil it down into easily-remembered items".

I have at least another 3-5 passes to go it before I'll be taking the test the week of the 21st.  I studied this same way for 70-293 and got a 947 on it a few weeks ago, so it seems like a good way to do it.

After that, I'll be taking 70-680: Windows 7, Configuring, which will get me the MCSA certification, and lastly I'll have 70-298: Designing Security for a MS Server 2003 Network, which will finish out the MCSE 2003 cert.  The study materials will have basically comprised 8 books by the time I'm done, ranging from 700 to 1400 pages each.  The really fun part is that you have to memorize how to do things the "Microsoft way" which is not always the most straight-forward, or how you do it in your environment at work.

I don't like writing papers and doing research, but I would take that over this ANY day.  Looking at Active Directory setups, how to setup your network, troubleshooting DNS, creating group policy, setting permissions on group policy objects...  thank goodness I'm over the half-way point.

I kind of miss those days.

I couldn't do it now. I could easily go without sleep when I was younger, and did. The worst was taking organic over the summer. an entire semester  crammed in 5 weeks.

It gets easier as you gain experience.  Today I could not write at the same level as when I was a senior in college.  When I went to dental school years late it was a rude shock, but I climbed the curve faster.

School is much easier when you're serious and motivated.
