Chewed for a couple years and around 3 weeks ago quite cold turkey. No big deal really. Most recently however, I am getting my ass kicked. Not because of physical withdrawls, but the fact that working many hours a day on the ranch seems to go by faster with a dip in. It just is weird not chewing when I am working, driving, sitting etc. I am having a hard time resisting it and I need some encouragement either way here.

everything in moderation dude. you eat twinkies every 1/2 hr.= lardass. but you eat one every now and then=no problem. same w/ dipping,as i see it. you do it constantly you'll develop a problem, i usually work 10hr. days..... so i have 1 before lunch, and 1 after lunch. no more than that.  i try to use this w/ most every thing in my life. jmo.

Haha I tried that. See I basically made it so I only chew when I drive or work. So in essence it means a dip a day atleast, for at least 20 minutes, but far less than 10 hours every day. But yeah. I had a few girls giving me a bad time about it, like a week before I quit and I decided that I would throw in the towel for a while but I think I'm gonna start up again. It just is so damn hard.

Do NOT ever go back.

Trust me. If you do, you will NEVER be able to quit, especially after getting hooked in three weeks.

I quit 11 years ago when I went to boot camp. It was screwing up my gums anyway. I might have one dip a year now if I am fishing with my brother and he has a can. I remember some of the guys I used to hang out with, if they were awake they had a dip in, they just drank beer right over it, one guy I know used to sleep with a dip of Copenhagen in, his bottom teeth were rotten by age 21.

Brother, I dipped for three years and tried to quit for 2 of them. Finally made it in Oct 08 and haven't had a dip since.

The next to last time I quit were some of the worst days of my life. It kicked my ass so bad I was physically sick for three days and had to lay in bed. Then somehow I didn't learn and started dipping again a few months later thinking it would be a one time thing.

Finally, I quit and it was one of the hardest and best things I ever did. Cuz I loved it. There's nothing better than a dip when you are bored. But the negatives soon outgrow the positives.

Don't do it. There are a billion reasons not to. It's so easy to start again, and every time you do, it gets harder to quit.

I never have headaches anymore, I've gotten back down to a regular weight cuz I ate all the time when I dipped, my mouth isn't all fucked up and I don't waste hundreds of dollars a year on it.

Stay quit. Cold turkey is the only way. After a few days, all you have to fight is the mental game. Just don't buy it and don't bum one from a friend and it's easy.

I wish I could be that way with smoking. I have quit so many times but always fail because the lack of a cigarette when out at a bar of drinking over at a friends blows. I envy people that manage to only be "social smokers".

Yeah its tough, beer and dip is hard to beat. But I physically don't need it but it is harder than hell to do the same activities without one in. Seems like a weird day every day. Hopefully i get over it.

I am that way. Hate smoking yet sometimes will smoke a cigar, with a beer. Interstingly enough used to chew the end of a cigar instead of chewing. and then picked up chewng. Dam thanks everyone for the support it sure is rough.

hope you take these guys advice to heart.over the last 25yrs. of dippin/smokin i've come to find my particular situation is an anomoly. not everyone has it so easy. stay away from it if'n you cant control yourself w/ it. i do 1 can a week and prolly close to a pack of smokes a week.

You've NOT dipped for more years than you have, so look at it like that.
