Those of you who wear contacts, what will you do when its fo time?  Do you have a pile of extra lenses, or do you have a pair of glasses you keep for just such an occasion?  If its extra lenses do you think you'll be able to properly care for them (cleaning them in solution) when needed?  Just wondering.

Get some military Dust/Wind Goggles to make sure you don't lose them in fight or while running. Will keep them clean during the rain as well.

Anyone who has contacts, should have glasses as well. Durring SHTF, you want to wear what is most comfortable, and if you're in "the field" you should be wearing glasses.

Was thinking about this the other day except teotwawki situation.

I don't need them but I was thinking about it.

What would happen long term. Would contact wearers be sol?

I figured that people that need glasses, and have a sense of teotwawki, will have already bought some sort of unbreakable style glasses.

I have a pair of glasses but they are a pain in the ass to try to shoot with.  I've almost thought of getting a pair of prescription oakleys or similar brand for these activities.  Contacts are a maintanance nightmare now I could only imagine how much fun it would be in a SHTF

I wear glasses.

Hell, I still have my RPGs from 20 years ago.  Just in case I break my current and need something to help.

contact will increase your chances of eye infection.

Glasses, properly fitted, will be your go to in the situation you described.

Get your eyes fixed and don't worry about it ever again.

Well I do have some shitty glasses that are scratched to shit and all bent (i never wear em and treat em like shit)

I do have plenty of lenses stored away and I always wear em longer than usual.

I also only use one contact in my dominant eye. I cant justify using them in both eyes.

And most of the time I dont even wear em, so im will  be able to function just fine with out em. At long distances things get blurry, but whatever, i can still see it, just not in good detail.

And Im also going to look into getting lasik soon.

young?

If so, wait until your eyes stabilize.

Get a good set of glass for your peepers in the meanwhile.

The only reason I had LASIK was so I don't have to rely on glasses to see.  In SHTF, I would have been screwed if I lost/broke my glasses.

I've thought about this before. I wear contacts on a daily basis, I only wear glasses if I run out of fresh contact lenses. This is the exact same thing I'd be doing in a SHTF situation. I've yet to find a pair of glasses that are as comfortable/unnoticeable as a pair of contact lenses. Also, even if you do plan on using glasses, I think it's a good idea to pack along some contact lenses. It costs 40 bucks for six pairs, they take up a TINY amount of space, you won't roll over and break them and you can sleep with them in so that if you wake up abruptly when someone is breaking into your house or whatever you'll still be able to see. I've had 3 pairs of glasses in my life, one pair is out in the woods somewhere and the other was thrown in the trash after I jumped out of bed in the morning late for work and crushed them beneath my feet. I plan on getting a good set of sports/tactical type glasses that are shatter resistant and have a headband for just this type of situation, but even once I do get them I'll still keep a large stock of contact lenses on hand because they're cheap, disposable, and comfortable.
